Right-wing British historian David Irving pleaded guilty Monday to charges of denying the Holocaust and was sentenced to three years in prison after conceding he was wrong to say there were no Nazi gas chambers at the Auschwitz concentration camp.

oh yes Holocaust deniers I know all about them if you want to learn more about them and (by an author who debunks them) check out Michael Shermer's "Why People Believe Weird Things" (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0805070893/sr=8-1/qid=1140513827/ref=pd_bbs_1/002-1712218-9284045?%5Fencoding=UTF8) it is a great book I highly recomend it it tackles many strage beliefs such as the above stated, alien abduction, psychics, and more.

No, he compares people who deny the holocaust, with those who believe to be abducted by aliens or those who believe in satanism, as I understood it, a big difference.

It's pretty ridiculous how people can twist historical events and occurrences to fit their ideological perspective. I don't know if any of you remember this, but over the summer (maybe in July or August), there was news over here that Japan was printing history textbooks that essentially ignored the Japanese invasion of Manchuria (China) in 1937 (I think?). Needless to say, this didn't sit well with the Chinese.

Read the Rape of Nanking it deals with that whole issue.

Historical revisionism-(negationism)-is one of the most disturbing concepts I heard...you can rewrite history just ignoring some facts like Holocaust. Actually I heard some years ago from a student of mine that Holocaust wasnt true...historicists just exagerated the numbers (statistics)!!!!!

After hearing her comment--which she said was based on recent researches that she found on internet sites-- I was extremely shocked!!!!! and thought that it was very, very sad to hear something so serious from a young girl ...
