I don't think he sucks on bass as others do the bass lines were very clean, it was the sound they were going for. He's not Flea or even Brian Marshall but good enough. Brett is better at it because his had more practise.

its not that Mark sucks at bass, but hes not as creative at the bass, so the bass parts werent as good as if a bassist were to come up with it.

Just watch "creed - studio tour part 2" from creed pager and dare to say Mark sucks on bass.

It's available on t.net, I think. [/b][/quote]
I don't care if he can play bass when he's not begin recorded... the point is that the bass line on Weathered was bleek and crappy... I can't believe that most of you will not admit to this. Just because he is one of the greatest guitar players, does NOT mean he's wonderful on bas... it just isn't his instrument. I'm pretty good on drums... does that mean I can play piano? No.

no one is disagreeing that the bassline sucked on weathered...that has been established many times. the thing is that mark isnt a bassist, and therefore doesnt write creative bass parts. if Brian was on Weathered, the bass line would be totally differnt, b/c he would have come up with it.

That is EXACTLY my point... I'm not saying Mark sucks on bass at all times... I'm just saying his attempt to do bass on Weathered was sad... my whole argument is simply to state that we need Brett on the 4th album. I think it will make all the difference in the world.

I agree 1000% of what bigbassdrummer has reapeatly said, brett should just join. Look, he's been the touring bassist for near 3 1/2 years, he for what I hear has a shit load of engergy live. Also, if some people have been noticing, more and more people are starting to look at him like he's a member of the band. Just read the tour reviews by fans on creed.com.

Also, it's would be so benaficial to mark on the 4th album that he could really put some mad screddidge down and not have to consentrate so much on bass lines. Has anybody read the december 2001 issue of guitar one? Well, mark pretty much said that the bass playing was not what he was expecting, and it's so much different to get into the mindset of a bassist.

If mark was 1/4th of the bassist he is as to a guitarist, creed would not even need a bassist. But, well....as far as I can hear he's not. But what ever happens, I have to stick by creed.

Brett has been with the band for like half the time he should become an "official member". Hopefully he is in that studio with them as we speak, well depending on what time it is over there of course! LOL

Yeah, I never thought of that... Brett has been with the band now just as long as Brian was!

Mark himself said that doing bass in the studio was hard for him. (Not sure where I read this- it may have been in Creed Ink). He said that he tended to play along the lines of his guitar-and it was hard for him to extend himself beyond that. I sort of understand what he means, and I think that really shows in Weathered. I would like to see them get a good bass guitarist....I think that is something they need-nothing like a good bottom line-it makes all the difference in the texture of the music.
