When you double click WinMX, the start up window(where it connects) opens up. Look down and you'll see "Connection type". Select the first connection type(Make a secondary connection to the network) and then click refresh. Also, make sure your firewall is allowing WinMX to make an internet connection and act as a server. I have cable and I get quick DLs. I've noticed when I've tried to make a primary connection, I do not get as many results and I can't really DL anything quickly. Try this and let me know if it makes a difference. If not, you could probably go over to WinMX's web site and if they have forums/tech support, just ask what to do.

Only two people recommended DC++ and out of those two, only one knows what hes talking about. DC++ is great for a backup program, I would never recommend it as ones primary program.

If you use it, I'd say it's probably not that great. LOL.
Yeah, you'd better. H-D

Oh and also, Ares seems pretty good so I think I'll stick with that, but if it stuffs up I'll keep the others in mind.

Actually, WinMX is a pretty good program. Seriously, you can find loads of stuff on there. And it's pretty user friendly(not quite as user friendly as KaZaA Lite, but close) I wouldn't recommend WinMX for video downloading, though. I use K-Lite(very hard to find these days) to get my music videos, and occasionally www.videopimp.com.

Sherman Networks owns the largest p2p network in the world, so you will always find more shit on kazaa than ay other. Since its proprietary, Kazaa Lite is an illegal hacked version of it, so if you get caught, you're in for double trouble. With thta being said, Kazaa, the program itself, is no longer the best program ever. You're required to pay in order to to leech. You have to pay 10 bucks to just set yourself up for a lawsuit.
The reason I plug Shareaza so much is because it eliminates the bad files. If you;re ever downloaded a song only to find out that it is the wrong file, well Shareaza eliminates that. So the vast majority of what you download will be legit. WinMX, Ares, Overnet, Grockster, Mute, Direct Connect, DC++, Waste, IRC, etc.... those networks are either proprietary or just too damn small.

Not to mention, the original KaZaA is filled with spyware.
Honestly, I've always been able to find whatever file I desire on WinMX. So, to me, it has a pretty darn good collection of songs.

Yea Shareaza does that at times, If you have a firewall Shareaza will not party. You have to remove it completely or get a different one.

That's your opinion. You probably have that opinion because you don't know how to use IRC properly. IRC is the best place to find complete albums and videos (music, movies, etc.). If you are looking to find a single song or two it's probably faster to use another service, but if you want some full albums, weeks before they are actually released, IRC is your best bet.

The beautity of IRC is that it is the oldest most stable program out there, literally since the begining of the internet. Its unmoderated, full of the pasty kids that dont get out much. Lost of hackers, piracy, and those willing to start new things. Its great if you know how it works, but for novices, its best to stay away.
