Best Swedish Rock Bands!!

Hey you guys!

I felt like it was time to post this. I don't think most you of know of these bands, but in my opinion - they are the best Sweden has to offer! I love all these bands! You can listen to some of their songs on each of the bands official websites. So I'm gonna give you the links to their websites, where you can listen, and in some cases download a couple of tracks. Then give me your opinions on them, and I'll try to pass them on to the bands! Alright, here we go:
  • Solewire - (There's a media player in the right top corner)
  • Blowsight - (You can download 2 tracks before entering the site and listen to a bunch of songs under "media". Note: Make sure to download their cover of Britney's "Toxic")
  • Stereolith - (After entering the site a media player popps up)

All these bands ROCK, so do yourself the favour and listen to them! Then watch out for these guys! I wish them all success, both in Sweden and in the rest of the world!

Re: Best Swedish Rock Bands!!

I'm a huge fan of Blindside... and like the Hives. Millencolin actually has a song with the same title as my last name "Kemp."

Anyway... I can't listen to the bands that you posted simply because I'm at school right now. But once I get home, I'm gonna check them all out. I have a couple of Scandanavian friends, one from Sweden and the other from Norway... so, I'm sure they know what's up with Swedish rock lol. Another friend of mine is from Poland and has been introducing me to some of the strangest music I have ever heard: Polish Hip Hop.

Some people here know that I'm trying to decide on where I want to go to college next year. It's pretty much between Maastricht (in the southern tip of the Netherlands) and Stockholm (Stockholm University to be exact). I would be there in Fall of this year... and the big deterrent coming from Sweden is the weird lack of daylight during the winter, the cold, the high taxes, and the relative isolation of some of the rest of Europe. Are all of these bad stereotypes? However, I will say that Swedes are not only good looking people, but also extremely nice.

Well, they may be a litte "stereotypic".

Weird lack of daylight during the winter - Well, yes. November, December and January are pretty dark. But you get used to it. It's still very lightful during the day.

The cold - Umm, not in Stockholm really. North of Sweden is coooold, but Stockholm. Naah... Sure, it's winter! Sweden can be very warm during the summer and in some cases very cold during the winter. I'd say Stockholm is a pretty good mixture. We have both winter and summer. In the south it's winter without snow. Which is just dark, depressing and boring. (Remember the white snow lights up). And in the north the summers are often to short.

High taxes - Yes, they are high. But why? 'Cause you get a lot of things in return many other countries can compete with!

Relative solation of some of the rest of Europe - Hmm, maybe in some parts of Sweden, but not inte Stockholm. That is everything but right! Stockholm is a very modern and pretty big city.

You should come here and see it for yourself. PLUS you should look at all the things you get back in return. A beautiful spring and summer! A big town with A LOT of forest and nature! (A lot of water, actually!) Stockholm has one of the most populare archipelagos in Europe, as far as I known. A pure beauty! PLUS you get to hang out with me and learn swedish!

I've been to the Netherlands, and I like Sweden a lot better. But I live here, so maybe I'm not the one to judge(?)

Awesome bands by the way. Anyway, you've renewed my interest in Sweden. Like I said earlier... Swedes are some of the coolest and most attractive people I have ever met. Now, I've been doing some research and 1 U.S. dollar is something like 7 Swedish Crowns. So, that sounds appealing to me. I know the Dutch use the Euro... which is actually stronger than the American dollar. Is it easy and fairly cheap to travel to other European countries from Stockholm? I know that most of you guys speak English also which is a plus... so I wouldn't be roaming around only knowing how to say "hej." hahahaha But anyway, I'll keep you posted on where I decide to go because if I'm going to be in Stockholm from September to December/January... I'm gonna need someone to show me the ins and outs of the city. Like the cool clubs and concerts venues... and all of that. lol

I would offer to help you with your English... but it appears that you speak the language pretty fluently. Maybe if you make it out to Southern California... I can show you what's up. Well... I've endured winter in Boston and New York... and walked around those cities when it was literally -17 F because of the wind chill factor. I've been able to talk to more people who have been to Sweden (and that includes Swedes, Norweigans, Poles, and Americans) than to people who have been to the Netherlands. I've gotten probably better feedback about Sweden though. lol but then again, Americans are confused by the Dutch liberalism and Swedish socialism. I don't care... either country will definitely open my eyes to other systems of government. I've studied the governments of both countries.

But back to the topic of those bands that you posted. They all sound really good... damn good. I like Stereolith probably the best... and I know I've heard their stuff in the past. I just can't remember where.

Re: Best Swedish Rock Bands!!

Well, Stereolith actually opened for 3 Doors Down when I saw them in Stockholm this summer. And Solewire opened for Seether this winter, and Blowsight have opened for a whole bunch of bands. Like Life Of Agony and Danzing. Blowsight is problably the best known band out of those 3. Anyway...

To answer your thoughts about Sweden. Let me just say the 3 reasons you should pick Stockholm:
-Me
-Girls. Sweden = Lots of babes. Everyone knows it
-You get to live in the best hockey nation in the world!
