It's funny you mention security guards confiscating pot as a good thing. In fact, the reason they don't always take it away is because once it's in their hands it belongs to them -- a frightening thing, from a legal perspective. So, if the security guards you saw were busting people for pot, unless you saw them stomp it out or something, there's a good chance they took it to smoke it after the show.
