What is GMT?????????

I've been wondering what the time thing is here on this board. I'm on the East coast of the USA.

According to the bottom of this page it is now 8:40 GMT.

It is 3:40PM on the east coast.

How do I figure this out.
Thanks,
mamm

Georgia Mountain Time minus 5 hours, I think.

GMT = Greenwich Mean Time

You can change what time is shown on the message board in your control panel.

mamm1234 05-10-2003 07:27 PM

HOW INTERESTING!!!

Thank you. I went to the control panel, almost couldn't find it, (click on message boards on top).

Turns out this GMT is the time in Western Europe, London.

Where does this board originate from???

Are most people on this board on EST--US.???

I guess there's no way of knowing when someone posted because you don't know what "time" they're using.

Well you learn something every day.

Hi Mamm, well that blew my theory of the GMT out of the water!!:)
Most of us are from the US with several exceptions, notably:
Bec (creedfan47a) = Australian Princess
Mel!issa = Australian Princess' Sister
Marcos (N30*5blahblah) = Brazil
Hayley (addicted2stapp) = New Zealand
Siana = Sofia, Bulgaria
Xterminator = Canada
There are others from Sweden, England, Scotland etc. as well. We are a melting pot.

Or an international hot spot!!!!
LOL

How cool.

God Bless.

I´m thinking of changing it...

Welcome to our lovely board, mamm1234!

I always thought it was Greenwich Meridian Time.
I'm in Australia.

Testing this to see if the post will give the right time

hayley 05-11-2003 04:17 AM

9.16pm.....no it's only 8.15pm OH well.

Steve 05-11-2003 08:20 AM

GMT is the "standard" time used on the Internet. Most things on the net however simply convert times to EST or whatever. The web server this board is on is in New Jersey

mamm1234 05-11-2003 11:39 AM

Well, Steve, that's even more interesting because that somewhere near where I live.
And my post time has been posting London time.

Got it straightened out now.

You hve to understand I am kind of clueless with these things so now I get the poster who using his longitude, latitude etc???I think..didn't know what that was.

Thanks for the welcome.
