View Full Version : Scott Stapp update!!! 02/20

From PBF:

February 20, 2005
Miami, Florida

Preproduction is at an end.

Scott and goneblind are in the process of moving, remodeling, and setting up a state-of-the-art studio for the recording process; however, this hasn't stopped them from continuing to produce the new album in the existing studio.

Scott is continuing to lead the way in writing the music and lyrics, with the very welcome input of goneblind. The relationship between Scott and gb has been and continues to be very good, both in and out of the studio, though they don't have a lot of leisure time! They're all feeling very confident and excited about the new music, and are really upbeat in planning for the 2005 tour.

Finaly! I was just asking this... Thanks for this, it realy helps putting faith in Scott that we will hear something this year at least...

But I'm still not shure of the album, he still has to prove to me that he can do it on his own :smokin:

I truly believe his solo album is going to rock and is going to prove all the doubters wrong. But even I was beginning to question if it would even come out. This update is exactly what those who were beginning to question(myself included) needed. Hopefully Wind-Up updates Stapp's site and keeps us updated on the recording process.

Yeah, hopefully. It would be wonderful if it comes out by say, June. When it comes out, I'll definitely buy it right away.

I'm kind of disappointed that Gone Blind is helping him out. I hope the album doesn't have a punk-rock sound. And I hope someone gives those guys guitar lessons.

Well, I'm not counting on the music(that is, the instruments) being really good, but I am counting on the lyrics and vocals to be really good. And, I don't think the album will have a punk-rock sound, at least it really shouldn't. Stapp isn't cut out for that. He's cut out for Rock. I agree with you on the lessons. It just seemed like they couldn't always play the right notes during the Higher performance. They got some of it right, but were wayyyyyy off on other parts of the song.

Seems like I might have heard that somewhere. All jokes aside, it would be interesting to hear Mark, Flip, and Brian jam with Eddie Vedder.

Yep, it is. They have Submersed, Alter Bridge and 12 Stones and no one knows anything about any of em... GRRR! They also have some not quite so decent bands (i.e. evenascence) who people DO know about... GRR.

Anyway, I actually don't think Stapp and Vedder sound exactly alike. Definitely similar (sometimes freakishly so) but not clones like so many Creed haters would have one believe.

Also, in a question that actually has some (gasp!) relevance to this thread, how exactly did Stapp write the solo album? Did he just write the lyrics? Cuz I mean, last I heard of, he couldn't play the guitar...

I agree, there are similarities. But the same can be said for Eric Durrance(former lead singer of Big Dismal, another Wind-Up artist) who sounds alot like Stapp at times. But Durrance isn't a clone.

I agree with what you said about Submersed and 12 Stones. Those guys deserve more attention than what they are getting. And more promotion.

As for Stapp, I'd think he's doing the lyrics and Goneblind is doing the music. But, of course, I don't know for sure. I'd love to see some more information on this.

Hey come on, you gotta admit, they sound *really* similar. Not a bad thing, Vedder has a good voice.

Kinda like Myles Kennedy and Chris Cornell, although I think Myles is better than Chris is now. Chris voice in soundgarden didn't seem so... aged.

Personally I like Stapp better than Vedder, you can call me biased but still...

Stapp may not be the most skilled singer (that's Myles Kennedy!) but he sings his heart out.

No, that's a fact.

When you have the chance to hear live versions of Creed, you'll see how Stapp struggles to hit higher notes. Not to mention his voice deteriorated since the Human Clay tour.

Myles has perfect control of his range.

I don't think so! I don't agree with you... not this time,ok?

Don't mean to gang up on you but in this case, you are wrong. Which voice you LIKE better is a matter of opinion, but which one is more talented...

Not really a matter of opinion. Stapp could NEVER hit the notes that Myles can. That's alright. That doesn't make him a band singer. MOST singers can't hit the notes Myles can! And if you like Stapp's voice you like Stapp's voice. But Myles can just unleash these ridiculously long holds, than take them higher, hold it for a while, and than take them higher AGAIN. The guy is amazing. If you ever get around to buying One Day Remains, the first track (Find the Real) is a great example of Myles amazing talent power and range.

Now, none of this is saying Scott has a bad voice or anything. He has a dang good one (and I have come to appreciate good voices more as I realize how few there are in modern music). He just isn't Myles Kennedy. No one is. (except Chris Cornell. LOL!, jk)

P.S.(I hope this doesn't make me cease to be a cool guy?! lol)

Ana, you didn't hear the AB album yet. When you do, you'll notice it.

I'm not discussing who's voice we should like better... I'm just saying technically, Myles is better. And imo, in today's rock mainstream music, I dare to say he's the best.

I'll say this, both Myles and Scott are incredibly talented singers. Scott is a great lyricist, and Myles is a good guitarist from what I've heard.(and he writes good lyrics as well) I don't think I could pick between the two, as I like them both alot. Before I really started to appreciate Myles' voice, I probably would have said that I liked Stapp better. But, now I like them both equally.

I think we loosing the focus...let's stay happy because we heard something good about Scott career. And for those who didn't listen One Day Remains yet, do it. Not because we had 3/4 of Creed there but cause it's a good music. Music Maded from the heart with high quality.

When Creed broke up I felt the same way. I was not interested for nothing related to AlterBridge. I'm a Stapp fan. How could I felt about listen another lead singer under Mark riffs? But I must say that they surpeised me and now I'm an Alter Bridge fan too. The Break did wonders for that guys and I think Scott will grow too. He will back over better.

Peace!

P.S.: Ana...você é brasileira também?!?

Yep, I would agree. Definitely the best in mainstream music. And he can shred!!!! What a dude.

I'd even go so far as to say he's the best voice I have ever heard. I'm sure there are better people out there, but I haven't heard them yet.

But Scott still has a great voice.
