I jus tdid soem school thing about smoking, and did u knwo that every cigerette has 20mg of tar in it. and every time u smoke a cigarette, 25% of the tar is released and 75% is abosorbed into your lungs. so then a smoker who smoked 10 ciggarets a day, gets about 54mg of tar in their lungs a month, which is 1 POUND of tar every 10 years :puke: which is 5 Pounds of Tar every 50 years. And all that goes into your lungs wich cloges them and they stop working and die. Then u die. Thats neat, i learened it today, just anotehr reason why smoking is stupid. and did u know that every year a large city of people all die from smoking? thats alot, about 400,000

sooo.. in about 10 years 4 Million peopel died from smoking, thats like the entire population of Toronto and then some.

Every hundred years about 500,000,000 people die, thats about 9% of the whole worlds population! :eek:

I hate the smell of cigarettes... it does no good to me...

What Marcos said! It's great, X. I got my dad to quit smoking after we saw this nasty film about what smoking does to the lungs. I described every detail of the diseased lung and it grossed him out so much, he stopped the next day! Knowledge is power!

When I was in nursing school we worked on cadavars and let me tell you what.... I had a 40 year old man who smoked and got lung cancer, when we opened up his lung it literally made a "poof" sound and it had ashes in it!!!! It was horrible!!!!!! Sure turned me off from ever smoking! His lung was all black with sludge on the lining of it, it was plain and simply horrible!! I wish all young people could see that, believe me they would not light up again!:eek: :eek:

Yeah, I remember telling my dad how black it was and how shredded it was from disease. I told him it looked like a basketball net that had been ripped to shreds.

I've never put a smoke in my mouth ever, and i'm not going to. Why the hell would ya wanna start?

yeah i know it is really disgusting...i only wanted to do it cauze i was curious, but i practicly was chocking so i chucked it out....but yea it doesn't help when you have asthma, either...like m.e:(
or smoking parents...arrrgh but na it's not that bad, they smoke out side. :P

Sure it helps if u stop smoking. I'm trying to help my mum stop now.
But every cigerette is doing ya damage.

My parents smoke outside as well at least.

yeah they do at my house cauze i have asthma...but yeh i have tried sooo many times to get my mum to stop, but she was like IT'S TOOOO HARRRD!! she's real addicted, it's awful cauze i'm afraid that she will DIE from smoking.

and X, yeah i no that's what i'm always thinkin...and pot too.
but i rekon it's not band cauze the sellers of pot and cigarettes make soooo much money...so no one bands it...even though it kills us.

The "Stupid" police is here folks....Just don;t like to see ya all telling yourselves you are stupid...and that you can;t do anything in the world about the problems. NOT TRUE. Individuals can do a lot for themselves, their homes, communities and the world. Right attitude, access to resources, desire for change and persistence have created a lot of positive changes/programs/laws/etc.! Sure, we get discouraged and frustrated...but, check out your local American Lung Association or Air Quality Board and they can give you ideas....Rock on you bright and powerful folks and reflect on this as you breathe in some beautiful fresh air!

That's right...and think of options for wrapping all those Christmas gifts...and save the bows and any large sheets! Or better yet, use cartoons for kids, and colored boxes for adults that just need bows.. OR BEST YET...skip the gifts, and give them notes saying that you have given a contribution to the local American Lung Association in their honor....;)

Mom always told me I was allergic to cigarettes and if I ever smoked it would kill me. (untrue about me being allergic) But it certainly scared the crap out of me. Never smoked a day in my life. Good scare tactic and I think I'll be using it on my little ones.

i told my friend who smokes about this...and he is going to quit now...he was wanting to quit before i told him but now he wants to quit even more...good thing he realized it before he got too addicted
