Had a good time at NAMM, looks like Mark is doing well. He said that his new band is going good, he thinks he has the singer although he can't say his name YET, also said that Scott Stapp is no more, he got the boot. That sucks cause I liked Creed but oh well.

Did he say those words, or is that your interpretation of what he said?

He was talking to two guys when he was asked about Stapp, I didn't hear what he had said so when they were done talking to him and I asked the two guys " What did Mark say about Scott?" that's when both guys responded to me, at the same time, he got booted. If those were Mark's exact words I don't know, all I know is that Scott is longer making music with Mark.

I see....so that very well could have been those two people's interpretation of what he said.

Thanks for replying :)

Just out of curiosity, Musicman, why didn't you post EVERYTHING here that you heard/said at another board?
It's easy for people to be confused about the truth when people only post half of something and when it's taken out of context. ;)

It's quite simple:

1. Scott Stapp is no longer in the band, therfore CREED is no more.
2. They have a new singer for the new band, Mark will not give the name out yet, he just said to look for the update on www.creed.com and Wind-Up.

I think that's it, here's another photo of Mark posing with Michael Angelo, a very good guitar shredder.....Oh yeah, that other kid is an employee for PRS that was with Mark most of the time........

01-19-2004, 01:28 AM
I, too, got the sense that Stapp was "in charge" ... but if the other guys refused to continue to play with him, then he would have no choice. As I said, let's hope that's not true!

This is the guy that makes Mark Tremonti's guitar, Mr. Paul Reed Smith himself, I went to the PRS party after the NAMM show, Carlos Santana was suppose to show up and play but he didn't because he was feeling ill, kinda ruined my night.

01-19-2004, 02:26 AM
OK, last picture for tonight, Mark hanging out with his friend, I'm not sure who the dude is.

Oh yeah, did I mention that CREED with Stapp played at the PRS NAMM show last year, too bad I didn't go that year, it would have been cool to see them.

One other band that did play the show this year was Marcos Curiel's (x-P.O.D. guitar players) new band The Accidental Experiment, I met Marcos at NAMM and he's a really cool guy.

musicman
01-19-2004, 02:34 AM
For those here that didn't think Mark said that about Scott at NAMM, here's someone named Steve that posted on marktremonti.net and what he had to say about meeting Mark at NAMM:

O.K. I got a chance to talk to Mark at NAMM on Saturday and here is what he told me. First, his new band will release their debuet on Aug. 27, he said that it is way better than anything he has ever done w/Creed. Second, tremontitech is right, Scott did get the boot because of the prolonged breake that he wanted to take from the band. And in case you want to know, Submersed will release their debuet in June. This came streight from Mark himself. He and I talked for about 10 min. and this is what he said. I'm not making this up. CREED IS NO MORE!!! But we still get Mark, Flip, and Bryan is back. So basically, we get a heavier, better Creed without Scott Stapp's drama.

So again, there you have it, forget about all the other rumors out there, this is the real deal!

Chau, I'm going to sleep.

mmmmmm i guess its true then, creed r really breaking up... :( I'm gonna miss Scott's singing, he is my idol...I'm in a band and always look up to him....But oh well, guess I'll hav to move on. :( I am now looking forward to the new band tremonti has formed, only question is who is the singer? Anyone reckon it might be Brett Hestla? If not, where does this leave him? This is really disapointing, he joined creed to tour, so he virtually gets the boot too! :mad1: Brett coudda still been in his band if it were'nt for this, its really disapointing. His band rocked...But oh well, looking forward to tremontis new band

Looking forward to what Mark puts out, but still REALLY want to know the real deal behind the "break up". But I guess it really is none of our business. I do have to say I will greatly miss Stapp as the front man, he is the initial reason I was so attracted to CREED. Like the saying goes "all good things must come to an end". They are all so talented I am sure whatever they put out will be incredible. I do have to admit I REALLY liked the "music" and "depth" of CREED better when Marshall was in the band. CREED just had so much more of a raw edge to them. Weathered was my least favorite album of the three. We have to wait until August to here the new stuff, gee that seems so long.

Well ... if that's all true, then that's really disappointing!

Personally, I think that's really messed up! I guess that's what Scott meant when he said his biggest disappointment was realizing that the people close to him cared more about how much money he could continue to make instead of worrying about his health.

Wow ... I can't believe they did that to him. :mad1:

I'm intrigued. And confused...

So that long extended break talk is now break up for good talk? Or the extended break still counts?

As far as I know, soon after Weathered tour ended, Mark said he was "itchy" to be playing again. And we know he never stopped writing.

Now if Stapp wants to extend the break... it's his choice. Of course the others shouldn't be waiting for him to do what they love. I think it's ok to have a side project and when Stapp is ready, they can come back re-energized!

But what led Stapp to do that... maybe he doesn't want to, but it's doing it for Jagger. Can you honestly blame him for that? I don't think so. Father's love is pretty awesome. Work-Life balance. I've been working in HR for six months and I saw top executives quitting their well-paid jobs so they could move to smaller cities/spend more time with family... they have their reasons.

But it's unfair to say Mark and the others are stabbing him in the back just because they want to move on.

I think everything will come for the good of them. Even if it means the end of Creed, which will be pretty sad. But we should be happy for them, right?

Chrispy
01-19-2004, 07:52 PM
Well said Tremonti Fed...I have been thinking the exact same thoughts since reading all the comments from NAMM. I think that Stapp and Mark are just in different chapters of their lives right now. Mark wants to keep doing what his heart is telling him, make music and tour. And we really don't know what Scott's heart is telling him, but like you, I would guess it has to do with his son.

I just wish them all the best, and, I hope that time will lead them back together to the same chapter.

JenRN
01-19-2004, 09:14 PM
I am glad to see that people are not making this into a pissing battle between Scott and Mark. I think Marcos made some great points, he is right they are in different chapters of thier lives. Who is to say that is the REAL reason, honestly what does the REAL reason matter in the scheme of things. I can empathize with Scott on a lot of things, going through a tumulturous relationship and divorce myself, trust me it is NOT EASY!!!! And I don't have kids, I can't even imagine what it would be like. Like I said before and everyone else on here, I just hope they are all happy in what they are doing, that is really all that matters here!

Ya know I have been working toward this in my heart and after I read this thread yesterday I had taken a road trip with plenty of time to think while driving. I had found a little peace about the whole situation but I am now feeling really relaxed about it. Thinking about Mark's style and such - I have always felt they both compromised a little bit to find the formula that is Creed - and it is a good tihing for them creatively to evolve their own styles and be the best Mark and Scott they can be respectively. If that means no Creed for a while I am heartbroken as I will miss it - but it can only bring more good things. maybe great things - and I know in my heart they will find their way together again -

I can't help but think, though, that they haven't parted on the best of terms and that part makes me sad. I hope that if that is the case then they can at least reconcile their friendship even if they can't pull the band together right now. Just speculation on this part of course, but I don't get the feeling it is joyous between them

that is what annoys me about marktremonti.net to be honest in that Stapp is made out to be the devil while Mark is portrayed as the savior of rock music. Now I realise its a board dedicated to Mark but they are obviousy Creed fans (well most of them) so why feel the need to take sides?

He has often said that he would be interested in doing things behind the scenes..like producing. Perhaps his solo stuff is that direction. Or Windup simply put that in there to keep it level.

I thought I read in another post that Tremonti said..look, I love the guy but...that is what I was comforted by. I too was concerned that their relationship was condemned. Let's hope for at least that brotherly friendship is still there. :)

Just to clear things up for those that are wondering about the "but...." statement....I'm posting all of the comments made by musicman done over several post from mt.net.

The very end is where he says the "but.."

I just got back from NAMM 2004, it was pretty cool. I must have walked 10 miles in the 2 days I was there.

OK, let's set all the rumors straight. Mark was being asked all day long about the band breakup. I was standing next to him several times when he was asked by the big boys as to what was going on, in particular, he was with Steve Vai and Vai asked him what he was up to.

Here's what Mark told Steve: Mark stated that him and Stapp were not agreeing on alot of things but more in the timeline of Creed, Stapp wanted to take a longer break from the band but Mark wanted to keep things rolling. He told Vai "You only get to do this once, so I want to keep things going", therefore since Stapp wanted to take it much slower, Mark pressed on with the new band thing. He then told a couple of the other guys that was there that Stapp got booted out of the band.

I also talked to Mark's bodyguard and he said that the new band is soundind awesome, he said that Mark is still thinking about a name for the band, he also said that he's very positive that theyve found the singer although he could not say who.

I hope this answers some of your questions. I took alot of pictures of Mark, here's a couple......

Oh wait, I can't attach pictures here, oh well. I had a good one of him and Vai, I told them to pose together for a few shots, Mark was telling him that he's an inspiration:)

He was booted from the group because Mark wanted to continue with making records and keep the ball rolling while Scott wanted a more relaxed approach, that's what I got from it. Either way, it doesn't matter now, that part is history. Scott is gone, out of the picture. Mark is now just concentrating on the new singer. He's still lookinf for a name so it won't be Creed anymore. Look at the bright side, you might be able to see Mark play at small venues for a while:)

I forgot to mention that Mark was walking around all day long Friday and Saturday at NAMM. It seems like the PRS rep was telling Mark when there was a guest appearance from other artists going on because he always seemed to show up at the right times.

Joe Satriani has a new amplifier out called JSX from Peavey. Joe had an amp demo that Mark went to in the Peavey booth, it looked like Mark was having a good time listening to Joe. I video taped the entire amp demo, I was right at the front, the video is KILLER!!

Mark then went to see Steve Vai at the Carvin booth and that's were Steve was asking him about his band.

Mark signed autographs on Friday and Saturday at the PRS booth, his girlfriend Victoria showed up on Friday, I shot a couple pictures of her, she looks like a nice girl.

Mark has his body guard and two other dudes, (one from PRS) with him the whole time he was there.

If you want to see a couple of pictures, go to www.creedfeed.com and look for my post, I'm musicman over there.

Mark didn't talk about Brian Marshall, when asked about Stapp he did say...."I love the guy and everything but,........" I didn't catch the last part of what he said.

apologies if this has already been posted and if this opens a hornets nest but thought people would like to see this. Not 100% certain what this means but to me it doesn't look good.

Just to let you know showjumper, Mark's comments at NAMM about him and Scott not working together for the forseeable future( Scott not wanting to move foreward fast enough) are the kindest and most pollitically correct of MANY reasons why this is so. There is quite a bit more to it than that.

Man, I hate it when people post a clip of what I say without including the whole context that surrounded it. This quote was taken from marktremonti.net from a thread in which the original poster met Mark at NAMM and overheard a convo where Mark said that he wasn't doing Creed because "Scott wasn't moving foreward fast enough". A different guy named Showjumper posted and he was upset that Mark would not "wait for Scott". In response, I posted the above quote.

What's up with Scott P. did he leave Tremonti's project too? I keep seeing suggestions for a singer and a drummer. Did I miss something?

Plain and simple...... a FORMAL statement from someone in the band or an statement from management would eliminate all this crap. Until that is done I am afraid this "he said, she said" will continue.

It doesn't really sound all that out of context, but that's just my opinion. :D Regardless, the comment leaves the door wide open for all kinds of speculation.

All these little snippets of information......I heard that he told two guys this.....I heard that from some person's cousin who lives in.....there are those that are taking things from other message boards, and using only what they want to make things appear a certain way. Kinda like cleverly placed little PR men planning their own little scenario......and I find it verrrrrrry interesting that one of them appears to be working for Brian Marshall....... :D

Is someone gonna answer my question about Scott Philips? Is he in Tremonti's new band or what?

you mean my picture taking skills? :D I should become a photographer. I actually have a nice shot of Mark with Vai that I would like to forward to him, he might want a copy but I have no way of getting a hold of him. UUHH Michael?
