Do you guys listen to any hip hop or rap? While I disliek mainstream stuff, I find that there are few exellent rap acts. OutKast is probably only mainstream rap I enjoy. Just because radio stuff sucks a big one does not mean that thw whole genre does. Trust me there is some hip hop that can be enjoyed even by metalheads, cuz I used to be one.

Deltron 3030 (producer: Dan The Automator + MC: Del Tha Funkee Hamosapien + DJ: Kid Koala, defently best rap group out there)
Del Tha Funkee Hamosapien (guy who raps for Gorillaz)
Dr. Octagon (another Dan The Automator + Kool Keith)
OutKast
Last Emperor
Atmpshpere
Jurassic 5

P.S. for all rap haters: download OutKast's "B.O.B. (Bombs Over Bagdad)" and "Rosa Parks" and Del's "Mistadobalina"... if these songs wouldn't put you into a bouncy mood and uplift mood... well than nothign will lol

For those who cant stand it... 99% of the stuff they play on MTV and radio is _commercial_ hip hop. It is a pile of shit, yeah. And it has nothign to do with real hip hop, where people dont boast about their mone, jewelry, girls and how many people they had shot this morning.

Well rap and rock have a lot in common these day really... most rock acts have pretty repetative music... so when you say you liek rhymes but as long as they got riffs, you mean that if beat is made with guitars it's cool, but if it's made with turntables and keyboards it's not? Well ok, as long as yu enjoy it.

Here's a cool video from Del's group, musically it has very nice guitar riff, and in general sounds really nice, girl who sings hook has great voice unlike most rap girl u hear in radio (and is actually dressed lol). Defently a great un-radio song.

Mainstream rap is just egregious. Underground rap is slightly less egregious.

I really can't stand any rap at all. The only rap song I have ever listened to in it's entirty as of late is the Eminem song from the 8 Mile soundtrack. Other than that, the last time I actually listened to an entire rap song would have to be when I was in the 7th grade.

Dogstar
03-12-2003, 01:51 AM
Yeah, I can't even get past the mainstream stuff enough to bother with underground. It's just not my cup of tea.

Uhhh just watch this video. Might change your view on underground rap.

I hated that song --- HATED IT!!! I don't like when artists pirate other artists music because they aren't original enough or smart enough to come up with their own stuff. And Ice Ice Baby pissed me off because the song Under Pressure was one of the most incredible songs of its time. That was robbery pure and simple.

I still listen to my Queen CD's. I cannot stand hip hop at all. The sad thing is, Tyler is hooked on the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle movie and Vanilla Ice is in it. It's VERY sad. Can't stand it. I will have to look for some new turtle tapes..............:P

I like Jurassic 5, they were in Australia last year, not bad at all. What I don't like about the whole hip-hop scene is that you can blatently steal riffs, words, samples etc. Everything is stolen these days - its worse than country music. Also I'm not really into it due to the mainstream stuff severely ruining any chance I would've given the genre. When you see people like Puff daddy (or whatever he's calling himself this week) appearing in every fucking video and cd practically, you just get a bit sick of it. Sure underground stuff might be really nice and good, but it's hard to sift through the layers of crap to get there. Plus the whole culture surrounding popular hip hop has got to be nuked from orbit, its the only way to be safe. Start again.

But I admit I do like Jurassic 5 and some Gorrilaz stuff.

Don't get me started on Eminem, the nuke should take him out too.
