Korg ES-1 controlled via MIDI Keyboard?

I just thought i'd ask this here, as I can't seem to get any info

Do any users of the original Korg Electribe ES-1 / ES-1mkII know if you can program and play/record via a connected MIDI Keyboard instead of the onboard pads?

For drum samples, the pads are fine, but I wonder if connecting a MIDI Keyboard, you can play and record 'chromatically' basslines and maybe even chords? (not sure on the polyphony?)

I'm sure there was a youtube video showing this, but cannot seem to find anything now on it?

Thanks in advance

I didn't find the right solution from the Internet.
