U.p.o.!

Anybody into them? I just picked up their sophomore effort, The Heavy, which came out last week, and it's pretty dang good. They have a lot of influences from what I can tell: Days of the New, Alice In Chains, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden. It's a cool record save for one rap-metal type song I could do without, but on the whole, a good effort. I couldn't find their debut album, No Pleasantries, at the store, but I just ordered it from half.com, and U.P.O. fans say this is a better than the new one.

Hahahah, yeah, Luvscott, we sure do! I picked this up on the recommendation of some Dust For Life fans, and I was NOT disappointed. I've been listening to it every day since I got it...Wait until you hear Murder at the Movies...It has an Alice vibe and even reminded me a little of Voodoo by your Godsmack . I think you'll dig it. I can't wait to get their first one, too.

Ohhhhhh, I LOVE Dust For Life...I'll burn you a copy of their debut CD. It kicks ass. Driving guitars and a really good vocalist. They have an Alice vibe, too, and they rock.

DS, in case you missed my post in "What Are You Listening To" I have No Pleasantries coming my way. I just bought it the other day on Ebay for $4 including S&H.

I haven't even heard them yet. I'm going totally on your recommendation.

Oh, the pressure is on! ...I got mine the other day off half.com and it is really cool! I think it's better than their new one. I'm really digging the vocals and the guitar sound. I hope you like it. If you don't at least you didn't spend a lot

LOL, yes the pressure is on. I think I will like them. I mean we both like a lot of the same music. Besides that the description you give of their music makes me think I'll like them.

Cool! I'll be interested to know what you think. I'm really hooked on them now, them and Second Coming. I got their two CDs; the second one came yesterday and I haven't had time to listen to it yet. Their first one's really cool. Another bad-ass Seattle band .

You'll be the first person to know what I think. I guess I'll have to check out Second Coming as well.

When it comes to newer bands I'm the biggest on:

Jesse Malin
Los Lonely Boys
The Von Bondies

I say The White Stripes don't count anymore, but they rock.

Other than that I'm stuck on Eric Clapton. Except right now I'm listening to this '60s boot of Bob Dylan, and he's freakin' amazing! I've never heard him growl out the lyrics so much like he's doing on this. Wow...

Wow, someone who likes Creed and also likes UPO???? Just about everyone I know hated UPO. I loved them when they came out... people said the singer couldn't sing, but I thought his voice was unique. I had no idea they were still together as it's been a while since their first cd was released. Guess I'll have to pick up the new one.

Really???? Wow, I can't believe that many people hated them. I think the singer has awesome range. He's almost Cornell-like on some tunes. On one of the new songs, Underground, at the end, I could swear it's Cornell doing a guest spot but it's the vocalist, Shawn Albro. That guy can wail. I really like his voice. You're right, it is quite unique...Some of their songs have this almost Middle-Eastern, spiritual sound to them. I think they are very talented. I think they had some label trouble, too, which explains the long time in between releases. Somebody from the DFL board turned me on to them, and I'm so glad I checked them out.

I just downloaded Godless, their lead singer sort of reminds me of the vocalist for Shinedown

Hmmm, I'll have to listen to Shinedown again...I didn't get that feeling. Godless is a cool song, though.
