And the most 'interesting' thing he said is he had done nothing wrong:
"If it was a crime to refer for trial those accused of shooting at the president, then try me and save a lot of trouble," he told the court.

I'm thinking he sees no wrong in his actions because during his reign Saddam was the law. He still beleives he is just and therefore has no respect for the court.
Claiming full responsability may be an intentional display of pride for the power he once had.
