ah
well, still, try to be the bigger person. i know i don't want steve locking this thread, b/c it's a good one. as far as some of the bands not being listed, I'd say Candlebox is fairly popular. i still hear 'em on the alt-rock station here ("Far Behind") every now and then, despite the fact that the album was released a good 10 or 12 years ago.

They're all awesome, but I would pick:
1 Pearl Jam (for Evenflow and Given to Fly) alone!!!! 2 Alice In Chains (Again is their best song!!!) 3 Nirvana (Smells Like Teen Spirit takes me back to my clubhopping days!!) 4 STP (Big Empty...Anything on The Crow soundtrack ROCKS!!!) 6 Soundgarden ( Blow up the Outside World is GREAT!!!) |

Jango does have a point however, grunge music is more of a dirty punk influenced sound and so a band like Green River would be grunge. Saying that Mother Love Bone (both bands pre-cursors to Pearl Jam) wouldn't be because that was glam basically. Radiohead came out around that time but apart from Creep nothing that they've done is very grungy or like the other bands listed. The most popular early 90's bands are listed and I'll detail why my list is the way it is.
PJ- For me this band has obviously outlasted the rest but also I think they're the most talented. Every member of the band is easily amongst the best at what they do and all members are good songwriters. There are a few Ten fans here but all of their stuff is worth getting your hands on. Eddie gets all the limelight but most people forget that Mike McCready is the best lead guitarist out of all these bands. AIC-Probably the best harmonsing that rock has ever seen with Layne and Jerry simply awesome. Jerry is a fantatic songwriter and then Layne goes off and creates magic with Mad Season. Good at either hard rock (We Die Young) or softer acoustic stuff on Jar of Flies. Awesome..... Soundgarden- Cornell at least at his peak is the best rock vocalist seen for a couple of decades and he started as a drummer. Matt Cameron is a machine and Ben Shephard and Kim Thayil are more than handy. STP-Copped it at PJ rip-offs but that is plainly a lie. They started out making "cock-rock" but developed into more Revolver style Beatles stuff that was very trippy and inventive. The Deleo brothers need to get something else going now that STP is dead and buried seemingly forever. Nirvana-Overated but Kurt was a very good songwriter and Dave Grohl has done a fantastic job graduating from drummer of the highest order to funny and talented frontman of the foos.

I am sorry if the poll doesn't fit the bands that you want. I picked these bands because they were the most popular of the era, hence the word popular.

Wear the grudge like a crown of negativity. Calculate what we will or will not tolerate. Desperate to control all and everything. Unable to forgive your scarlet lettermen. Clutch it like a cornerstone. Otherwise it all comes down. Justify denials and grip 'em to the lonesome end. Clutch it like a cornerstone. Otherwise it all comes down. Terrified of being wrong. Ultimatum prison cell. Saturn ascends, choose one or ten. Hang on or be humbled again. Clutch it like a cornerstone. Otherwise it all comes down. Justify denials and grip 'em to the lonesome end. Saturn ascends, comes round again. Saturn ascends, the one, the ten. Ignorant to the damage done. Wear the grudge like a crown of negativity. Calculate what we will or will not tolerate. Desperate to control all and everything. Unable to forgive your scarlet lettermen. Wear the grudge like a crown. Desperate to control. Unable to forgive. And we're sinking deeper. Defining, confining, controlling, and we're sinking deeper. Saturn comes back around to show you everything Let's you choose what you will not see and then Drags you down like a stone or lifts you up again Spits you out like a child, light and innocent. Saturn comes back around. Lifts you up like a child or Drags you down like a stone To consume you till you choose to let this go. Give away the stone. Let the oceans take and transmutate this cold and fated anchor. Give away the stone. Let the waters kiss and transmutate these leaden grudges into gold. Let go.

Are you done with the poetry? I think Tool is a little to advanced for you. Any way back on topic, I would like to know (for those who voted for) why you believe Pearl Jam is the best out of this group? Last edited by DekWannaBFlea : 02-10-2005 at 01:12 AM. |

Take, if you want a slice
If you want a piece If it feels alright Break, if you like the sound If it gets you up If it brings you down Share, if it makes you sleep If it sets you free If it helps you breathe Don't come over here And piss on my gate Save it just keep it Off my wave Cry, if you want to cry If it helps you see If it clears your eyes Hate, if you want to hate If it keeps you safe If it makes you brave Pray, if you want to pray If you like to kneel If you like to lay Don't come over here And piss on my gate Save it just keep it Off my wave Keep it off my wave Keep it off my wave Keep it off my wave My wave Cry, if you want to cry If it helps you see If it clears your eyes Hate, if you want to hate If it keeps you safe If it makes you brave Take, if you want a slice If you want a piece If it feels alright Don't come over here And piss on my gate Save it just keep it Off my wave Keep it off my wave Keep it off my wave My wave |

whoa! back that train up fella! you're blaming us????????? i'm pretty sure your inane bickering with insults directed towards, and grudge against ol' Jango there is what caused this thread to fuck up a tad. we just had enough sense to point out that, when Jango posted the Tool lyrics, you got OWNED like a motherfucker.
you should... because, as you said to Jango a few posts ago: ... and yet, you felt compelled to post your own.... very childish indeed, to say one thing, then do the opposite.

Yes posting lyrics from a song in response to an argument to an argument is always ownage. The thing you have to look at is if your not childish wouldn't you post nothing at all And keep on trucking? Seems like a double standard to to me. |
