Just practice practice practice, that's all I can say. It's not an easy song, but listen to it a lot, and try to learn it slower than it actually is. Then, when it's memorized slower, keep speeding it up just a little.

My suggestion is get everything but the fingerpicking part down first. Once you are ready to tackle the fingerpicking part, start slowly, and if you have a good tab, go measure by measure. Its not going to come to you really fast unless you have been playing guitar for a long time. I still have trouble every once and a while because of the alternating bass line.

Like others have said, just practice. But, I'll got you my best advice,
I can't read tabs, so when I look at tabs it's like trying to descipher greek. I say, just start off with a bar chords at the lower end of the fret board with the high strings. Stand here with me is the same note pattern. Or just watch tremonti play it live and just put your fingers on the fret board where he has his and work from there, and tune down if you have to because 95% of the creed tunes are tuned down. I most always use standard tuning because tuning down to me is a pain in the ass. Hope that helped. I can also do the intro on my bass as well.

its not at all...unless youre lazy. try tuning it to open-d or 1/2 step..now that takes forever!
you know there is a brand of guitars that make a drop-d switch that automatically places the guitar in drop-d. i have to get one of those

One Last Breath is in Standard Tuning. There is no need to tune down. Also, tab is easy to read: each number is a fret number, and each line is a string. Get a guitar world and they tell you how to read tab in the area where songs are tabed.
