I agree with you totally whitebird. I did an oral presentation in my sociology class about the evolution of violence in video games, and it was recieved quite well.

At my school a few weeks ago, there was a group of students who wanted to protest the war by wearing all black, taking a vow of silence, and skipping class. What some of my friends came up with, was to wear red, white, and blue, not in support of the war, but in support of the men and women fighting for our country and our freedoms. I don't believe that I support the war and all the violence in our world today, but I also don't not support the war. I feel that at the point it is now, war is pretty much inevidible. If Former President Bush had taken care of the problem properly instead of giving Hussain a slap on the wrist, we wouldn't have to do this now. I do know, that I don't support the way people go about supporting the war, like with the bumper stickers and plate frames like you mentioned, but we should just let the people we elected to deal with it, deal with it. If people oppose President Bush, boo hoo, you shouldn't have voted him into office. Although people voted for Gore too, that can't be your only reason for not supporting bush. You live in this country, you support the leader of it. It's that easy.

First of all - Bravo, Kim!

I feel the same way myself too, whitebird. Sometimes it really makes sad. What I do so the feeling doesn't get to me is to do my best to treat others as I would like to be treated, help people out whenever I can and put my faith in God. Some days it's more difficult to do than others but I try and make the best out of my little corner of the world.

Again, I would like to say that what the world needs to survive is balance. If everyone in the world were just like myself, had the same views, and lived their lives like me, I would hate it. It would be boring. I like diversity in people.

I simply have never understood the need or desire to get what you want at the expense of someone else, or thru the destruction of nature. Am I perfect? No. I am however trying to be someone that leaves this world a little bit better, than when I entered it.

Hi Creedfan63

Thanks for your support. I really appreciate it. I was just typing my last reply when I saw that you had posted too.

Tomorrow I am donating time to the Humane Society. Some people would say that is a small way to help the world, I believe that many diverse small differences create a larger good when combined together.

You're welcome, whitebird. I agree with what you stated in your prior post as well.

I hope you enjoy your time at the Humane Society tomorrow. What a great way to spend some of the day, I love animals!

Whitebird,

I feel your frustration - but believe there is still hope. Look around, not at the extremists, but to others...this is a great time with much questioning and discourse and that is good - to not go blindly by faith or with the adminstration, but to use our God given intellect, reasoning and listen to our hearts. Sometimes I too feel that we are a species so disconnected and out of balance that we are de-evolving, but then I look and I see individuals making a difference. I thank them - I try to model after them and I pray that goodness will prevail. It's tough, but stand strong, hang tight and spread your goodness in your own cirlce, and know it will radiate out....You make a difference - you bring that balance up to a brighter and lighter side!

I understand that you directed that towards whitebird, souldancer. But you may as well have been talking about yourself, because that's the way I feel about you (as I am sure many others do as well). Wonderful to have you back! Welcome. And don't leave us again. We missed you!! And your thoughtful insights as well. (and your little dog too).

1) Some people use humour as a defence mechanism against things like that. I'm someone who does. And if I saw those bumper stickers I probably would've chuckled.

2) About the games, I sometimes play games where the aim of the game is to kill the other team. Thing is, I'm not going to go get a high powered assult rifle (its illegal in my country anyway) and start taking pot shots at random people. It's just a game, you know how children play cops and robbers, and cowboys and indians? They are pretending to shoot at each other, do you suggest that those children be stopped from playing these games?

3) Marilyn Manson is a rather intelligent person. In fact probably more in touch with the goings on of the world today than many of the people who post here. (but still a little eccentric)

4) Americans aren't too free. You guys do realise your basically living in an elected monarchy, right?

edit: can't count.

I think Americans think theyīre the only free people in the world, when itīs not like that. And thatīs why they value so much the freedom they say they have... Itīs complex...

Don't over generalize! I don't think americans think like that! That is what "other countries" lead you all to believe. You really don't know unless you have lived here for longer than 5 years at that! America is a VERY patriotic country, has always been. The thing I find most annoying is how "other" countries "think" they know everything about Amercia, the fact is they don't! This is not directed towards you either Marcos! I just get annoyed with these things. When I had a German exchange student live with me for over a year, the one thing she said over and over is "America is not like our country lead us to believe" she saw the real ways of America and experienced it for herself. Unfortunatley the media in our country as in others sways the public to see things from their perspective, not the real way. It is a problem that is constant. That is why I choose to watch Fox news, it gives news from all aspects Republican and Democrat. Plus it reports facts, NOT speculation!
