I get very disappointed whenever I turn on MTV and its all rap. It used to be music television. Now it is rap television. I'd much rather watch VH1.

VH-1 is great for getting info on artists and bands and for the few videos they do show. MTV SUCKS! MTV-2 is kewl! I like it because they give equal time to all genres of music.

That's a good question. Maybe the difference has to do with the actual programmers. I'm only guessing but I'd think that just because the same huge corporation owns the two doesn't mean the predjudices of the people who work there are the same?

To set the record straight:
MTV and VH1 are owned by the same parent company, just as Time magazine and Warner Bros. Entertainment and CNN are all owned by Time/Warner. This does not mean they have the same editors, the same views, or even much of anything in common at all. The same applies here. Both Maliciously Terrible Vomit(MTV), and Vh1 are owned by Viacom. They are, however, not affiliated an any way other than that.
