that's just not right! sure, Slash is good, but he's not on the same league as SRV, Clapton and Satriani.
lol, not quite sure why i threw him in there... Joe Satriani's fucking amazing!
my faves: him, John Petrucci (Dream Theater), Angus Young (AC/DC), Hendrix, Eddie Van Halen,

SRV is without a doubt one of the best. It has to be admitted even if you aren't a fan. Of course, "the best" is subjective. It is all about preference. My personal favorite is Eric Clapton. He's absolutely AMAZING!! To me he is without a doubt the best, and on my personal fave list he's followed very, very closely by Bruce Springsteen and Pete Townshend. Later on comes Tony Iommi, Jonny Lang, Angus Young, and others.

SRV makes my top 10 personal fave list, and I would say he is on the list of top 10 of all time. He really is great.

ok, there probably isn't a right answer to this question... but I can tell you there are some wrong ones.

it is NOT mark tremonti.

he would be the first to admit it.

another one that hasn't been mentioned yet(i don't think) is david gilmour. he probably isn't the best technical guitarist ever, but man could he make that thing sing.

Not a fan of SRV, but the dude was freakin' amazing. I guess the reason I am not a big fan is because I have only heard a few of his own original recordings, and everything else has been a note for note cover of a Hendrix song. I may be biased though because I am a huge fan of Hendrix and what he did for music. Putting together a list of greats is tough though, because there are so many people that have played the guitar and are really good, but nobody, or very few people, have heard of them. That and whats good to me isn't good to you, so...
