I like everything from the black album back. I didn't like the direction they went in after. I'm still hoping to see them in July, but I have to get somebody to work for me. I can't stand Limp Bizkit and Linkin Park doesn't do much for me, but I'd suffer through them to see Metallica.

I'm seeing them 4 times this summer. I couldn't help myself. :P

I'm sure you will like their new CD, St. Anger. It is supposed to be some of the deepest, most out of control stuff they've ever done. Tons of mags and people have reviewed and and not ONE person said a bad thing about it. Everyone loved it. If you like their older stuff, you will LOVE this album. As you know, Metallica never goes back, they always go forwards. So, this album won't sound like Master of Puppets or Justice for All... but it will have that same type of explosive energy. It will be a whole new kind of heavy! Goddamn, I can't wait any longer!!!

LOL, Invisible Kid....I've heard it's heavier than their more recent stuff, but I also hear there aren't any guitar solos, though. That's a major bummer.

No traditional solos... like Hammett wailing away on the wah for a minute or so. St. Anger is roughly 75 minutes long, and the shortest song is 5:13... many songs are 7 and 8 minutes long. I have faith in the guys, I know they did something amazing during those long, complex songs.

I sure hope so. It's hard to imagine songs that long without some sort of solo in them, but we'll see. It'll be interesting, that's for sure.

On one hand I want to belive that new album will be good. On the other hand their latest song was one that did with Ja Rule. When Metallica song has Ja Rule saying "Yo! We got Metillica in da house!" I start loosing faith in them.

I loved Master of Puppets/Black Album/And Justice For All. Old Metallica rocks. I'd like to see what kind of stuff they come up with now.

Dammit, that isn't a Metallica song!!!!! It's a SWIZZ BEATZ song, starring Ja Rule. Swizz Beatz asked to use some riffs and a couple vocals on a song of his, and Metallica said OK. It is not their song at all. They just lent them the material.

Shit, those riffs and vocals are from before James went to rehab, and all of that stuff has been scrapped. The new album is comprised entirely of stuff worked on in the year 2002. Most of it actually from the latter half of 2002.

Yes, but that association never would have happened in the earlier days. It sure cost them some credibility with me as well. I just hope the new album rocks.

I remeber Metallica said something like "Fuck MTV, we'll never make a music video!". They were all anti-sellout, and look at them now -- touring with Limp Bizkit. Hope new music is good, but they did loose a lot of credebility and respect.

We all say dumb shit at some point or another in our lives, and dismiss it all the time. Why should we hold them to something they said almost 20 yrs ago? That's just dumb.

Also, MTV came to them back in 1988 or so, they didn't come to MTV.
