R.I.P. Tug McGraw
The sports world lost a great man today with the death of retired Phillies' relief pitcher Tug McGraw. He was in inspiration both by his sportsmanship and his life. He died of brain cancer.

Poor guy, brain tumors are so awful. Tim McGraw and his family are probably devestated

I couldn't believe it when I heard it on the radio on the way home from Connecticut tonight. He was a great guy who really loved what he did. I picked his name as my baseball name that my dad would call me when we played catch or hit a ball around the yard.
Baseball needs more guys with passion like him. R.I.P., Tugger. You will be missed....

I was shocked when my hubby told me when he got home from work. I thought Tug was doing better after he had his operation.....we were all so bummed, we're a Phillies lovin' family. What a sad day for the Phillies organization and for the sports world in general.....Rest in peace, Tug.

I know that this is really sad for you Teri. I was going to post the info, but figured that you knew already. RIP is right.

Thanks, Aimee. We're all pretty bummed out. It just came as such a surprise to us all here in the area. We watched him on the last day of the last season at Vet Stadium, he stepped out of a black Lincoln, walked to the pitcher's mound and re-enacted the final pitch of the 1980 World Series. Even my hubby was in tears that day. We all thought he had been improving.

Ditto to everything you said, Teri. My hubby and son went to that very game and it was very touching. We all thought he was improving too; this was so sudden.
