Tree Of Life

we have the word
but do we understand
we have been eating from the tree
of knowledge of good and evil
and now we are more free

are we loved is my question
'cause we're afraid to leave behind
the spirit of life
we are small and afraid
under these stormy skies

will we understand the light we're given
and how far we can get
but we're unamazed
in our ambition
to bleed and succeed

these words flow through me like a river
it is eternity we are given
if we could pluck the fruit
we would live forever
drinking from the fountain of youth

there's so much time
all the dreams unfullfilled
so many things inside
there's only death standing in our way
can we break away from it's maze
