I couldn't have said it any better than that. That's what makes the music good. We had this conversation awhile back about other singers (etc..Kurt Cobain) Emotion is the most important thing in music and the singer. If you are not feeling what you sing than what's the point. Maynard has a wonderful range and the emotion he puts behind all his song regardless if it's APC or Tool is all that should be important! It comes out in all his songs. Screaming /growling or otherwise!! That's my

Yep, exactly. You have to be able to connect with the listener, and Maynard does that in both bands.

he does do a great job with Tool but he is showing his voice off more with APC. IMO Lateralus is a little like Radiohead's OK Computer. Both keep getting raised as some of the best album's of all time and probably the best if you take the Beatles out of the equation. While both albums are great trips it is more moody music IMO. Both albums are cool to listen to in the dark in your bedroom though! When I said songwriting I meant the music and melody. Tool's stuff doesn't hook you in with that ease that APC does, at least not for me. Billy writes some fantastic music and with Maynard's vocals and lyrics you just want to sing along.

You're right about Billy, that's for sure. He's totally underrated. I think he's really talented. I do agree Maynard's vocals are more prominent in APC and yes, easier to sing to, but I still find both bands' music easy to access. Take Sober from Undertow, or Schism or Parabol and Parabola from Lateralus. I can't tell you how many times I hit repeat on those to sing along, LOL. I love listening to Lateralus in the car, on my walks, at the gym, LOL...That's an interesting comparison with OK Computer. That's a bad-ass album, too .

i don't think there are any at least of note on their two albums but you've seen them live maybe you can enlighten me, any solos live? is he a good soloist or he doesn't indulge in that? There are songs from Tool that do leave you wanting more but I find with APC it is two thirds of the album or more. Billy Howerdel has to be one of the best songwriters in the business, different some call it "stoner rock" but it certainly gets in your head. Anybody else think he looks a bit like Billy Corgan?

I also have to agree about Billy. He is definitely underrated.Billy had fulled me at times with his voice as well. he could definitely hold his own!! I can't wait to see them live in April. As much as I like Tool there are times when I found myself reaching more for the APC cds. I love all there songs and listen to them over and over again. Sober ~Tool is my all time favorite song.

after this thread I listened to Lateralus last night and it was very cool but I still like my APC albums a lot more. Have to love the screaming in The Grudge though.

Oh man, The Grudge is killer!!! I have seen APC once live, and Billy pretty much stuck to the whatever was on the records, but hearing those songs live was killer. He did a great job. Plus without the vocal layering, Maynard sometimes will sing a less prominent part of the harmonies to put different spins on the songs, like in Gravity and Blue. It was awesome.

This is from the apc.net site, from its news section:

eBay user auctionsqueen is currently auctioning off a collection of very recognizable clothes Maynard has worn onstage with A Perfect Circle. We've confirmed the authenticity of the items, and Maynard supports these auctions

I don't even want to guess how much this stuff will go for, hehe.

I almost died when I browsing e-bay last night and saw these items up for auction! I soooo want those jamies he's wearing in my avie!! I'm gonna try my damdest to get those...I think right now there at @ $200, thinking I might actually see if I can get them!! I think I'd pay up to $400 for something that The Man has worn!! *keep your fingers crossed for me*!!
