Creed is controversial
There's one thing that dissappoints me about Creed and that's the song Freedom Fighter. In 'Higher' they promote love, in 'Freedom Fighter' war. I likie their peaceful side better.

Re: Creed is controversial
I think you misinterpret the meaning of Freedom Fighter. No where in the lyrics do I see a "support of war"

Re: Creed is controversial
I never gathered pro-war either. But what is it about?

Re: Creed is controversial
It's a metaphor like " Bullets". I think the song is about spiritual anguish, seeking that ultimate FREEDOM. He may be talking about confronting judgemental, prideful, liars. "soon there'll come a day when your face to face with me." Maybe?

Re: Creed is controversial
I never thought of it as a 'pro-war' song myself. If I did, I wouldn't like it, purely for that reason.

Re: Creed is controversial
Yeah I saw Freedom Fighter more as kinda a "Fuck You Nay sayers" type of song and I like songs with a big Buck you attached to it.

Re: Creed is controversial
"holy war" doesn't always mean a war fought with guns and swords...it's a spititual war...a spiritual fight...

Re: Creed is controversial
I thought of the song as a spiritual one until I tried to download it once and the filename said "Creed-Freedom Fighter-Bombs on Baghdad". Anyway 'people marching all around' sounds to me like a real war.

Re: Creed is controversial
Well, the verses show nothing of a physical war really

The mouths of envious
Always find another door While at the gates of paradise they beat us down some more But our mission’s set in stone ‘Cause the writing’s on the wall I’ll scream it from the mountain tops pride comes before a fall So many thoughts to share All this energy to give Unlike those who hide the truth I tell it like it is If the truth will set you free I feel sorry for your soul Can’t you hear the ringing ‘cause for you the bell tolls I’m just a freedom fighter No remorse Raging on in holy war Soon there’ll come a day When you’re face to face with me Face to face with me Can’t you hear us coming? People marching all around Can’t you see we’re coming? Close your eyes it’s over now Can’t you hear us coming? The fight has only just begun Can’t you see we’re coming? I’m just a freedom fighter No remorse Raging on in holy war Soon there’ll come a day When you’re face to face with me Face to face with me |
