Are you buying plastic sheeting and duct tape??
I know this is a depressing thread, but the media is really freaking me out with all this talk. Who here is actually preparing for some kind of biological threat?? They say your should have water, food, portable radio, plastic sheeting, duct tape cut to fit doors, vents, outlets and room picked out to seal , preferrably with no windows. This is getting really scary. Anyone else freaked out as much as I am??

Yeah, that freaked me out too! Living by Washington DC I am in a constant state of fear of what is gonna happen I don't know about a lot of these things. I have refused to get the smallpox vaccination at work, I feel that if it comes here, well.... I don't want to be around. As far as the duct tape and plastic, well I don't know, it is disturbing for sure! I remember playing in old bomb shelters when I was little during the "cold war" That was weird enough I think that everyone is so unsure and it just makes you value everyday you have. I know that since 9/11 and what I was exposed to, I have changed my views on many things and I definatley look at things differently. I adamatley refuse to get on the metro DC subway system, I don't go into DC often but when I do I take it, so no more for me! I saw many disturbing things last time I was on there.

I'm not getting myself all worked up about it, but I am concerned.
The duct tape people are probably making a fortune now. I do worry though, about the fact that I work at a major hotel/casino along the NJ coastline, as does my mother and my husband. I also worry about my brother who is a firefighter in Philly. But I am not taking any extra precautionary measures like duct tape and plastic. Maybe I'm being foolish, but I am trying not to panic.

yeah Jen, I know what you mean, I am really frightened by what will happen, seems to be something WILL happen and maybe soon. I just don't understand the hatred. I was actually in tears last night in bed because of the big mistake of watching the news before bed. My husband thinks i'm over reacting but I can't help but be scared for my family and all of America.

Not panicing is the best thing for everyone, just educate yourself and go with your gut and you will never be wrong!

Understand the hatred? Well.... I don't think any of us will ever fully understand it. I have tried to educate myself on a lot of these recent issues and there are a lot of reasons why they hate us. They hate EVERYTHING we stand for, they hate that we "are disrupting the holy land" (so they think) they hate that we are the strong nation we are, I can go on and on. I don't want to bore you, but I did take many classes in college years ago on these topics and I am an avid reader and watcher of informative programs that discuss this exact thing. All I know is I am a very passionate patriotic person have been my whole life, and it is sad that they are being blinded by their dictators. It could be so awesome to have world peace, but I really don't ever see that happening

I'm with Teri on this one. To me, the best weapon is to try to be as aware as possible about your surroundings. Pay attention and if you see anything out of the ordinary, report it. Go with your gut.
I am a member of the media and I'm embarrassed of my profession these days. Hardly anyone in the mainstream is digging for the real facts. They just take what the gov't feeds them and regurgitate it to the public. The duct tape/plastic thing is a prime example of this. It's as bad as the weather hysteria the media constantly create, especially TV, but print is getting just as bad. The gov't knows there are no real journalists anymore, so it knows what it can get away with. I'm not saying we should be like ostriches and stick our heads in the sand, but I really don't think plastic and duct tape will save us from any biological/chemical attacks. This is the kind of hysteria Osama bin Laden and other terrorists thrive on. They want people living in fear. We as a nation haven't had to live with the fear as they have in other countries, such as England, Northern Ireland, Israel. Terrorism is a fact of life in these places. Living in fear will let the terrorists win. I'm going to do my best not to let them win.

I don't really understand all the hatred that other countries have towards us I mean bombing us and makin threats just because of the beliefs that we have and our freedoms. All the people that have done attacks on us claim to believe in a god that doesn't exist Yet the condemn us because we don't live by their ways and beliefs I don't get it. They say that they do all this crap because their Godtold them to or something? But what have their Gods done for them? Atleast our God done something for us!!! He died on a cross...all alone in the world with just a few friends and took away our sins so that we could be forgiven and have life!!!
