One Day Remains or Blackbird?
So I haven't got around to it but I was thinking about going to pick up one of Alter Bridge's cds today. I haven't heard much of their stuff but I really do like what I have heard. Which cd do the users prefer? Their debut album One Day Remains? Or the followup Blackbird?

Blackbird is a little more unique-sounding. One Day Remains has more in common with the Creed sound. So I guess it depends on what you're interested in.

dude if I were you I would save up and get both cd's. Each album tells its own story and you can listen to both albums front to back 10 times a day. I Bought "One Day Remains" the day it came out and was amazed at Myles's set of pipes and the guitar work of Mark on the album, and instantly became a fan of AB. Then you have "Blackbird" which in my mind tops one day remains and i get goosebumps when I hear mark speak with his guitar solos on that album.

Re: One Day Remains or Blackbird?
I think that one day remains sounds somewhat like creed..My favorite song from One day remains is actually one day remains..I love the way the song starts with Mark soloing....Album wise Blackbird is where the boys bring it...Alot heavier...Better riffs...Best rock cd in a while other than Daughtry's..

Re: One Day Remains or Blackbird?
Blackbird hasn't had the staying power of ODR for me, and I usually prefer the heavier stuff. I can't really explain it, but the songs didn't really grab me save for a few. I don't know, they sounded kind of the same-ish to me and I got bored with it. I thought it was too long. Even though ODR had songs that sounded Creedish, the ones that didn't, I really loved. I think my expectations were different, and that's my fault, I suppose.

I decided to pick up Blackbird yesterday and you're absolutley right, this CD is extremely deep and powerful. Mark shines better then I've ever heard him before, and Myles is one helluva singer. Glad I bought it

Re: One Day Remains or Blackbird?
I prefer Blackbird by a pretty wide margin. I like them better when they have more of a metal feel, and you get more of that on Blackbird, which is no doubt to having more of Myles' collaboration on the songs. As has already been pointed out, One Day Remains is a lot more Creed-like. If I wanted to listen to music like that, I'd listen to Creed.

Don't forget the DVD!
I'll have to go with One Day Remains, I like Blackbird but Before Tomorrow Comes, Buried Alive, Coming Home and One by One just don't interest me at all whereas the only song I skip on ODR is Watch Your Words. |

Re: One Day Remains or Blackbird?
According to Myles Alter Bridge III is going to be even darker but more blusey if I recall

Re: One Day Remains or Blackbird?
Apart from a few tunes (especially the title track), I found Blackbird monotonous and incredibly dull. The nu-metal sound and all the downtuned guitars really tested my patience. I still enjoy ODR but my disappointment in Blackbird signaled a change in my musical tastes in general.
Still, I'm excited for this Creed reunion out of pure nostalgia. |
