Stand By My
One of the best movies.... It's simply a great story. If you haven't seen this movie before, or haven't seen it in a long time, go rent it.
Stand By Me

Another Stephen King story where the movie followed the book very closely. Great story (Originally called 'The Body' in the book version). River Phoenix is outstanding. Loved the movie.

I can only remember parts of it. The train part, leech part, camping part. That's it.

It was just on HBO ... finished watching it, thought I'd tell people to go out and see it if you haven't lately! One of my alltime fav's...
It seems like most of my favorite movies are either "The Lord of The Rings" (or movies with that same topics) or Stephen King stories! Shawshank Redemption The Shining (original w/ Jack Nicholson) Stand By Me

You do know that Stephen King HATED the original version of The Shining when it was released? The miniseries that ABC had on a few years ago with Steven Weber was the version King wanted to be made. Took him a few years but he finally had it made the way he saw fit.

Yes I know.... which I don't understand really... I didn't like the kid actor in that new ABC miniseries.... he didn't fit the part very good IMO. That in itself ruined it for me, which is why I like the original.

He didn't like the liberties that Stanley Kubrick took with the script. I agree, I didn't like the little kid in the ABC version of The Shining. He sounded like he needed to blow his nose during the whole thing.

I didn't like the wife in the Kubrick version .... she was awful.... that was really the only thing I didn't like about that movie.

River Phoenix was super in that movie and a few others. He had such potential. It's awful what happened to him.
