Apparently the track listing has changed for TGD?
VH1.com put up the whole Great Divide album on their "Hear Music First" section. Here's the track list, as posted on PBF:
01 The Great Divide 02 Surround Me 03 Let Me Go 04 Fight Song 05 Justify 06 Sublime 07 Broken 08 Reach Out 09 Hard Way 10 Soar Very interesting and a bit confusing. I think Stapp's official site still has the original track listing(posted in another thread on here) up, as does Amazon. I guess we will not know for sure until the album is officially released. However, if this is the new track listing, I think it's a good move on WU's part. One of the complaints on here(and probably even PBF) was that it was not mixed up enough. You had the four hardest songs on the album as the first four, and the rest were soft. With this new listing, you have more of a mix, although I still think Broken should be last.....however, a case can be made for You Will Soar. I still like that they mixed it up, though.

Well, I'm kinda confused if it was just VH1 goofing up, or if WU really changed the track-list like that. I can't wait until the album comes out next Tuesday and I can see for myself if that's the new track listing or not.

I think the VH1 order, though I don't like that Broken is track 7. I just think that one is best served as the last track. I also think that Reach Out is best as the first track. But the rest of it is real good, imo.

They definitely don't mix it up enough. All the hard songs are basically first and then I have no interest in it until Broken. I agree that Broken should be last.

The album everyone downloaded was probably an "advanced copy" of the album. Labels print out advanced copies of albums to use as promos for media people, radio promos, etc. I've seen advanced copies of Human Clay and Weathered. They are usually just plain colored (or even still silver) CD discs with printed text on it. While Human Clay and Weathered had the same tracklistings, I have seen ones changed. One that comes to mind is Default's debut album. I have the advanced album that leaked and I believe there's a minor track change on it.

Yeah, I know, but what was odd about this was that WU said that the original track list was the official track list. And his site still says that, yet VH1 has this new track listing. Confusing.

WU probably saw the feedback from what people said on the forums and changed it? It's kinda late to have a CD reprinted though.

What is really strange is that I'm not sure that this was an advanced CD. I listened to Reach Out, which we've all been complaining about, since his voice cracks, and he doesn't hit the notes. And from what I heard, it sounded just the same... VH1 could just have screwed the whole thing up, big time!

Perhaps, and I noticed that too. I expected that the official album version of the song would be more edited, but I guess maybe Stapp/his producer were going for that raw sound? I mean, he kinda screams in that one, and no it doesn't sound that good, but maybe that was the sound that they were going for.
I still think Reach Out should be the first song. Just seems to fit perfectly in that spot whereas TGD doesn't.

usually on advanced copies, they don't change the recordings or production on the albums...
amazon had a tracklisting similar to this one vh1 has and then it changed to what has been downloaded by all these people...now it seems it's changed back...i don't know, it's very weird. and i don't think that roman has anything to do with that. as a matter of fact, roman isn't a person, but rather a collective group of people...at least that is what i've been told. |

Advanced copies of a CD do not necessarily mean that they are printed before editing or anything. It just means that they print off so many before printing off the actual versions. Since they usually only print off X amount of advanced copies (if they do) for promo use, they just slap the songs on, print 'em, and ship 'em.
