With venomous precision
Painful thoughts linger
Digging up visions
Making it hard to let go of the past
It’s almost as if

As if reason
Forgot to rhyme
Demanding repayment
Of some petty crime
As if forgiveness
Passes all understanding
Is met with a silence
That’s less than commanding

These eyes look forward
There’s better tomorrows
Life’s darkest days filled
With love…lost their sorrows
Yet, in your words the shadows are cast
It’s almost as if
