This is only my second post ever, but I have been browsing around these boards for a long time. It seems to me that if ever there was a time for Creed to seperate, it is now. Honestly, after MOP their CD's got worse. It was more about money, and less about THE MUSIC. I personally see this as a good thing. Mark can finally show off his skills without being held back. So can Flip. To Scott Stapp, I say take a break and get some rest, and get your life back in order. But remember people, "All things with a beginning, must have an end."

I can't believe you said it was more about the money and less about the music

Don't get me wrong, I like HC and Weathered, but if you listen, they go more mainstream with the music. When MOP came out they were raw unheard of talents, and they wanted it more. It seems to me like they went, "well guys, lets just go make some more money." I also think that Mark Tremonti is one of the best guitar players out there today, and I love to listen to his stuff, but I don't think his whole heart was into it anymore. Maybe now he can get a fresh start and go kick some butt.

I agree and disagree... I liked MOP the most, and I thought HC was excellent (sadly WAWO and Higher were the only singles people remember from it). As most people know, Weathered was only average imo.
I'm crushed that Creed won't be together for a long time (at least), but somewhere in the back of my head I have to say I think it's for the best. Mark/Flip can go on and fully explore different sounds and styles. Stapp can get his life on track and hopefully become a bit less Axle Rose-ish. If Creed's appeal is strong enough, these guys will come back together and will have incredible music for us. If not, well, Creed just wouldn't have worked out if they forced themselves to stay together. Either way, I'm really sad about what happened to Creed. I've connected with this band like no other.

i dont think Creed was ever in the mainstream with their albums, but you gotta think...MOP came towards the end of grunge, and i can hear some of that in their music, and so on and so on. what Creed did is what all good bands do...they evolved. i dont think it was ever about the money

I agree with that.

I don't think it was for money either! Weathered was my favorite of the 3 by far

Weeeellllll...hmmm. I don't see either HC or Weathered as being too mainstream...hell, look at Higher, look at DSD, how mainstream is that? It was so against the current that everyone was like WTF is this shit?? (well, WE weren't, but the haters were lol) And damn, what about the epic WGMB?? Tell me that's mainstream, and I'll tell u my name is Scott Alan Stapp. lol.

Unfortunately I see Scott Stapp as an egotistical, money grabber. I see the rest of the guys as musicians. Guys who play for the music. Stapp is going to end up like other famous frontmen. High and broke. And I see Stapp as being the kind f guy who has final say in everything in the band and Mark and Flip not having a lot of say, except as far as putting music to words. If Creed wanted to they could have evolved, not de-evolved. What I see as happening, and this does happen in the music industry, is the big wigs saying, hey guys HC sold 11 million records, or whatever it was, so lets go out there and do it again. So they rehashed. Just one man's opinion. And talking about Creed to others, they say basically the same thing. And those views are expressed by unbiased minds, who don't really like or dislike Creed. Its not hard to see what happened.

Maybe mainstream isn't quite specific enough...It's more mainstream pop rock, of soft rock if you will. Bullets and Freedom Fighter weren't but DSD, Hide and the like were definitely lighter fare sound wise.

Yep, have to agree with you there. Everybody sees big dollar signs and they try to duplicate it. Most times, it doesn't work, imo.
