Personally, I don't call then new-metal bands, but "music" that is mixed with rock, and rap. It just doesn't work. Rock is rock, and rap is rap. You can't mix both because it sounds like pure shit. Linkin Park. A perfect example of this rap-rock. Verses you might as well say it's rap, mixed with some muched up distorted guitaring in the background. It DOESN'T work! But, that's only my opinion, I just absolutley hate that music, I can't stand it.

Okay you know obviously what I mean my mainstream rock, yes? Well it seems as if mostly all of thse new bands being let in to the rock industy, are rock mixed with rap. It's taking over the mainstream rock line. Here in New Zealand, it's full blown, and it's what you hear about 70% of the time on the local rock station. It's hooked on so deeply, and I don't get why. Me, I am a rocker. I feel that you can only be into rock, or rap. But, I guess it depends on how passionate you are about what you listen to. I am very passionate, I live and breathe rock. When you mix rap with rock, I think it's insulting to rock music.

Yes. But like handmedown mentioned, there is a clear significance between metal, and new-metal. Metallica, Korn, Rob Zombie, etc. Are REAL metal bands, they are METAL bands, not rap-rock-metal bands. There is defenitly a differnence.
