Good DVD Burners?
Anyone have or know of a good internal DVD burner to recommend? I'm looking for a 16x max DVD+R with Dual Layer capability. Went to Best Buy tonight, and they had 3 brands that fit this description: Plextor, Sony, and Memorex.

I currently have an NEC CD/DVD Bruner and have never had a problem burning a disc. No ruined discs yet. If you want a Sony, check out this one. Don't buy your hardware from a brick and mortar place. You'll pay too much (usually). NewEgg.com has always had the cheapest prices, cheap or free shipping, and fast & reliable shipping.

thanks Steve. I prolly wasn't gonna buy from Best Buy or Circuit City or something like that. Actually, I recently got a 320 Gb WD Hard Drive from Buy.com for like $160, but it only came with the Hard Drive itself, no instructions or anything (luckily, Shunt placement was the only thing I needed). And I think I had originally ordered a Sony burner on there, but upon the advice of a buddy of mine (I can't remember the ones he recommended, but he advised I don't get a Sony), and the fact that after about a week, it was still "on order," I just cancelled. But I'll definitely have to look into NEC & New Egg. Thanks!

yeahhh... that Sony looks to be the same as the one I saw at Best Buy, but a helluva lot cheaper (prolly about half the price, I think), and still cheaper than on Buy.com (most of theirs were about $80-90). Thanks!

Basically get anything that fits your budget. If you want high end go with Sony or HP, thier newest ones. Ive had some pretty off brand drives and never had a problem. I just suggest that you get something you;re confortable with and has some reputation with blank CD-Rs
