Congress passed a bill today to weaken the constitution
H R 2679 A.K.A. The Public Expression of Religion Act
was passed today in the house. this bill does away with the establishment clause making it ilegal for people to sue the government over government sposored religious monuments or ceremoies. this is a major set back in constitutional law and will probably be struck down by the supreme court (if it gets past the Senate) but ti is still a little distressing that it passed in the first place. thoughs? opinions?

Re: Congress passed a bill today to weaken the constitution
All I can say is that it's embarassing to me as a Christian,
when other people act this way in the name of God. How can we keep chruch and state seperate if there are government-sponsored religious monuments or ceremoies? It's just this reason why I've given up trying to defend other Christians and their actions. You're always going to get people pissed off at you if you're as inconsitant with yourself as the US government is about things like religion (any religion). |
