The original demo of "Brother Of Mine" featuring Scott Stapp
A guy on PBF found the original demo of this Virgos song. It starts off just like the released version(with Brett on vocals) but Scott shows up on the second verse and from that point, it's the two of them exchanging vocals. It's actually pretty good(definitely on par with the released version of the song).
Link to the song: http://www.virgos.ws/media/Virgos - ...ott stapp).mp3 Just right-click the above link and click "save as" to download it.

Wow, very interesting. I always wondered why he didn't do the final version. Thanks for posting.

I've wondered the same thing and am not sure why this version wasn't the released version.

How did that guy at PBF get ahold of it? Last edited by Agent D : 11-19-2006 at 03:26 PM. |

Re: The original demo of "Brother Of Mine" featuring Scott Stapp
He found that site(a site chock full of unreleased and released Virgos stuff) and then posted it on PBF. I'm not quite sure how the people who run the Virgos site got ahold of that demo.
I do have some thoughts on the demo after listening to it a few times. You can tell that Scott's vocals were not up to par when he recorded this. He's straining a lot to hit the notes and his voice isn't going high enough to sound good over the instrumental work. I'm guessing that's why this wasn't the released version of the song. It's not that he sounds bad, per sa, just that he was capable of better.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. I almost think the other version is better. |

Probably 2001 or 2002. It was written in response to 9/11. |

Great song, but bad quality!
Nice to hear Stapps voice from the time that nobody could match him! The song sounds very much like a Dark New Day song!

^ Yeah, I thought it was pretty good quality. This version of the song has really grown on me, although I still think Stapp's vocals are a little below average.

his vocals are mixed to low in the mix, not that his voice was bad just the demo qaulity was bad, but it sounds awsome
