Great Dane = BIG
Pug = SMALL

The pug must take up much less room than a great dane.

Yes, ALOT!

A2S- You really should think about getting a dog from the animal shelter. My Jake is a lab mix from the shelter, and if you've read my post about him on this thread, you know that he is absolutely wonderful. He's mostly lab, but not a pure bred. My sister's pure breed lab has hip dysplasia and arthritis (she's only 3), both common aliments in pure bred dogs. She has had surgery and is on 2 different medications. And they paid $600 for her! Jake was free other than the $25 or so adoption fee that also paid for his neutering.

There are thousands of dogs (and cats) put to sleep EVERYDAY in the US, why not save one's life instead of supporting breeders and puppy mills just out to make money.

I am sure there are-just look up animal shelters or animal control (or whatever the term is there) for your area on the web. Good luck!

If you say you are getting the dog for someone else, they may not allow it b/c they don't know anything about they other person. Take her there with you, but make sure she knows all the responsibility and cost that it entails, and that she knows that it is a commitment that last years. So many people don't realize it, they just think of the animal as a commodity that they can dispose of when they lose interest, that's one of the things that the shelters try to protect the animals from.
