Yeah well being a big U2 fan, i will have to say The Edge as well as Mark for sure.

Metallica has some pretty good stuff, and pearl Jam.

But yeah im not an expert on guitars, i guess its goin by the emotion the guitar work brings to a song.

I agree. Nirvana had 2 very average musicians (Kurt and Chris) and great drummer (Dave Grohl). I like Nirvana a lot, but Cobain was anyting but a good guitar player. Great songwriter thou.

One of the reasons why I love The Edge is because his playing has given U2 a unique sound, IMO. I remember when I first heard their music, I enjoyed their sound a lot due to his guitar work.

My list of best guitarists is mostly the usual suspects: Hendrix, Clapton, Van Halen, Hammett, etc...

Here's a little thought I have also:
While I dunno if Mark belongs in that group...yet, I definately think his talent goes pretty underrecognized. Unlike those other guys, the only time you really get to hear what Mark can do is at a live show since there really aren't any wild solos and Creed's music. On the other hand, his rhythm riffs are hardly simple power chords too. What sounds simple enough on the radio turns out to be some extremely complex rhythm guitar work when you look at some sheet music.

PS: Don't trust tabs you find on the Internet too much. They may sound right, but more often than not, they barely scratch the surface of the details put into the music. Especially for Mark's stuff.

.

I think Tremonti has incredible potential and I really hope more of his work is featured in the next CD (solos!!!!).
