I woke up an hour late this morning. At first, it wasn't so bad. What pissed me off was the fact that I missed an iridium flare, a satellite that was scheduled to flare up quite brightly this morning, specifically at 6:04am. I actually woke up early enough to catch it, but I forgot about it until it was too late. I remembered at 6:09, five minutes late. Man, this pissed me off. I had been looking forward to it for several days because it was going to be especially bright, a magnitude -7 to be specific which is hella bright. Oh well, I soon got over it and had a grand day.

Otherwise, I normally don't get very upset about things. I figure you have to go with the flow.

That would piss me off. Missing important things that may not happen again for years sucks.

Actually, these flares happen all the time. They're not always super bright, but you can usually see 1 or 2 a week, sometimes more, depending, of course, on weather conditions.

If anyone is interested, go to www.heavens-above.com
You'll find a link in there on iridium flares. Next, all you have to do is punch in your coordinates in longitude and latitude, or simply pick the city you live in. The database is pretty comprehensive and will probably include your location. But, if you want to be exact on your location, you'll have to enter your own. It's a pain in the butt at first, but once you have your location dialed in, simply make it a favorite website and check it on a daily basis, or whenever. It really trips people out when you can magically, or seamingly so, predict that a "star" is going to flare up.

Some of them are pretty damn bright! They look like a fireball.
Another thing that helps is being a freak about astronomy.
