Wasn't it that someone found it on the side of an old cave? Or that might have been something else...I don't know.

I thought Stapp designed it and then had the beltbuckle made to look like it. Can't remember if I read it, heard it, or made it up somewhere along the way... H-D

im pretty sure it was an Indian Crest.... it is my guess that it stands for Love....cuz it looks like 4 Love symbols together/two hearts together....

Donīt you think they should have removed 1/4 of the crest when Brian left? hehe j/k
Coz at first I thought the meaning was they were 4 pieces, they were equal, but were really strong, they had a huge power when they got/were together...

now, question:
how the heck Creed came up with all that? I mean, researching and everything before getting famous... weird.... suspicious...

Just kidding with yuh. I dont know where but I've read that the crest was a symbol for the sun and then the sun was as symbol for love or something. I dont know... maybe Im just nuts.

I think this is just one fan's research, might not be true. I've tried endlessly to find out the meaning, I have it tattooed on me for crying out loud, and this is the closest I've come.
Bear with me here groupies. It goes more into detail than the last post: Except in Guitar World, April 2002, (by Gosh Marcos, here's your user name, I always thought that was your point on the earth. I am blond!! Is that where you got that?)there is a story about a Native American warrior legend tracking a killer grizzly bear. He is attacked by the bear and after almost being killed, he runs with the bear in hot pursuit. He swims across this lake, all along seeing this symbol glimmering on the lake. When he gets back to his chief, he tells him about it and draws it in the sand, so they bring in a blacksmith to make the formation from eight objects of steel, "each bearing the crest." The first is the brand, which is used to mark the shoulder of every warrior in the tribe. But the other seven are stolen before the tribe can take possession of them. Flash forward to the present. Somehow, the Seeker-whoever he may be-has recognized the crest in Creed's artwork and believes the band and its fans can lead him to the missing eight objects." The Seeker is the player of the mysertious game Creed made. The author researched this story..."Okay, none of this proves that the story of the warrior and the bear existed before Creed started their Quest. But it is worth noting that the crest itself is NOT something that Creed made up. As Mark explains, 'I can't give it away. But the crest was something that already existed before all this. It wasn't something created from our minds. It was a real thing.' " So, in conclusion, "Down in Australia, the indefatigable Andrew (?) traced the Creed crest to the Abajo mountains in Utah, where some 7,000 Native American carvings can be found. And what was the tribe responsible for all those carvings? Most references give their name as Creek Indians, but as Andrew points out, 'Another pronunciation of Creek Indians was in fact Creed Indians.' Moreover Andrew (again, don't know who he is) claims that the Creed crest is definitely one of the Native American symbols carved into rock there in the Abajo mountains." I like to think of it as the author in Marcos' copy does, a symbol of peace and unity. I'd love to go see the crest in Utah. Creedfest anyone?
