Socialization

With a far away look in his eye
He pretended he was somewhere else
Of course he smiled and shook hands
Was his usual charming self
He laughed and he joked and conversed
In the way they had come to expect
But his thoughts were somewhere else
He was lost in the calming effect

Don’t think he’s not paying attention
He’s learned to do both at once
It’s a talent being in two places
Without instigating an affront
Able to relax and socialize
He’s at the top of his game
Between the here and somewhere else
Everyone’s entertained…
