a castle built of light
a ray that builds our dreams
and inside the princess sleeps
and she wants out
night in night out she weeps
but a dragon is keeping the door
day in day out just like before

a duying light inside her eyes
still nothing that justifies the chains
and a reason she needs
so she looks for old stains
to justify the pain

you turn into a monster to survive
everything tender lost inside
and the treasures are kept for those in power
behind our eyes where the darkness hides
and we become something we can't recognize
you leave behind all of value
because if you shine they will sell you

she looks into the mirror and she can see
nothing is real
the castle died and turned into a shell
one she wears to guard herself
for too long she's struggled for freedom
like a wild horse and now she knows
a flower can't grow behind those walls
