Bob Dylan!!!
OMG, what a freakin AWESOME SHOW! I just got back. He was GREAT!!!
It was at the Tower Theater in Philadelphia and it probably held a couple of thousand people. We were on the left side of the stage, on BOB'S side, woooo-hooooo. We had great seats, too. Pretty close! This show was ROCKIN'. They played a lot of the faster songs and Bob never picked up the guitar. It was so weird. He played keyboards the whole time, and he was terrific! I can't remember the set list (I'm really bad that, LOL), but he played one of my favorite songs EVER, that one from the movie Wonder Boys, Things Change. I think it was nominated for a Grammy, if I recall. It was FANTASTIC live and they did a lot of jamming during it. They also did Highway 61, another of my faves. There were two electric guitar players, including a guy named Mike something or other. When Bob introduced them all, of course, I couldn't understand him half the time, LOL. Anyway, Mike was an awesome player!!!! And he was HOT, HOT, HOT...Very tall, very dark hair, long and he had a mustache... The show was about two hours long, and Bob never said a word. They just played their hearts out! Bob was wearing a black suit jacket, black pants with a white stripe down the side of each leg, a white shirt and a black hat with a white ribbon around it. The set and lighting were very straightforward, nothing fancy, no light shows or anything like that. Just a bunch of guys having a great time playing their tunes. There was a logo of some sort on the curtain and a couple of times the curtains changed from black to tan, but that was about it. Their bass player, who Bob said had been with them a long time, also played stand-up bass and he was awesome! He even had a couple of solos. There were TONS of guitar solos as well, and they were bad-ass! The crowd was totally into it. Lots of people were standing, which surprised me, because I wasn't quite sure what to expect. There was a good mix of young and old, which was nice to see. Lots of people were dancing and whooping it up. It was a very spirited, charged crowd. For the encore, they did Like a Rolling Stone and a rip-roaring version of All Along the Watchtower plus one other song. Everybody was on their feet at that point. That's the second time in two weeks that I got to hear Watchtower live. Neil Young & Crazy Horse did it during the Greendale show...Both versions were wonderful and different in their own ways. Totally cool! If you have a chance to catch Bob Dylan, DO IT. The man is a legend. Oh, and there was no opener! Just all Bob all the time.

Oh f*** yeah!!! Thanks for that review! The guitar player you are talking about is Larry Campell. Fantastic guitarist though I prefer the guitarist from 1991 to February of '97, John Jackson! Tony Garnier is the bass player and has been with Bob a very, very long time. Awesome bass player he is.
Bob has been playing keyboard since the fall of '03. There are a few rumors going about. Some say he may have arthiritis and others say he wants to mix it up. He did however play guitar when he guested at Bruce Springsteen's last show of The Rising tour at Shea Stadium on 10/04/03. Bob also hinted that he may pick up the guitar in Europe, but he was just kind of toying with the crowd from what I hear. Here's the setlist: Upper Darby, Pennsylvania Tower Theatre March 29, 2004 1.To Be Alone With You 2.I'll Be Your Baby Tonight 3.Tweedle Dee & Tweedle Dum 4.Don't Think Twice, It's All Right (acoustic) 5.Things Have Changed 6.Highway 61 Revisited 7.Moonlight 8.Stuck Inside Of Mobile With The Memphis Blues Again 9.Man In The Long Black Coat 10.Most Likely You Go Your Way (And I'll Go Mine) 11.Standing In The Doorway 12.Honest With Me 13.I Believe In You 14.Summer Days (encore) 15.Cat's In The Well 16.Like A Rolling Stone 17.All Along The Watchtower Let me just say that not only am I incredibly jealous that you saw him (happy too ), but I'm definitely jealous that you got songs number: 1, 4, 6, 8, 10, 11, 12, 14, 16, and 17. Well, that was practically the whole setlist! Don't Think Twice is a freakin' brilliant song! One of the best written songs ever with sarcasm, wit, and so much bite. It's even in my sig. Okay, it's official I need a show. I just gave a review of a show I wasn't even at.

LOL, SmilinSkullring...I was looking on the web site earlier for the set list, but it hadn't been posted yet, hehehe. Good job, thanks!...Oh, and might I just say that Summer Days had the most incredible jamming EVER. I was cheering after every solo. I have to have a boot of this show...I also loved I'll Be Your Baby Tonight and the Memphis Blues tune. Larry Campbell does not look like a Larry, LOL...Man, was he HOT...I thought he was really good, though! Thanks for all the info. I have to confess I hadn't kept up with Bob's more recent comings and goings. This was such a treat. I was thinking how much my dad would love this show. He's a big Dylan fan .

Yes, the jamming is awesome. Plus, the lyrics (of course )
Summer days, summer nights are gone Summer days and the summer nights are gone I know a place where there's still somethin' going on I got a house on a hill, I got hogs all out on in the mud I got a house on a hill, I got hogs out lying in the mud Got a long haired woman, she got royal Indian blood Everybody get ready - lift up your glasses and sing Everybody get ready to lift up your glasses and sing Well, I'm standin' on the table, I'm proposing a toast to the King Well I'm drivin' in the flats in a Cadillac car The girls all say, "You're a worn out star" My pockets are loaded and I'm spending every dime How can you say you love someone else when you know it's me all the time? Well, the fog's so thick you can't spy the land The fog is so thick that you can't even spy the land What good are you anyway, if you can't stand up to some old businessman? Wedding bells ringin', the choir is beginning to sing Yes, the wedding bells are ringing and the choir is beginning to sing What looks good in the day, at night is another thing She's looking into my eyes, she's holding my hand She's looking into my eyes, she's holding my hand She says, "You can't repeat the past." I say, "You can't? What do you mean, you can't? Of course you can." Where do you come from? Where do you go? Sorry that's nothin' you would need to know Well, my back has been to the wall for so long, it seems like it's stuck Why don't you break my heart one more time just for good luck I got eight carburetors, boys I'm using 'em all Well, I got eight carburetors and boys, I'm using 'em all I'm short on gas, my motor's starting to stall My dogs are barking, there must be someone around My dogs are barking, there must be someone around I got my hammer ringin', pretty baby, but the nails ain't goin' down You got something to say, speak or hold your peace Well, you got something to say, speak now or hold your peace If it's information you want you can go get it from the police Politician got on his jogging shoes He must be running for office, got no time to lose He been suckin' the blood out of the genius of generosity You been rolling your eyes - you been teasing me Standing by God's river, my soul is beginnin' to shake Standing by God's river, my soul is beginnin' to shake I'm countin' on you love, to give me a break Well, I'm leaving in the morning as soon as the dark clouds lift Yes, I'm leaving in the morning just as soon as the dark clouds lift Gonna break the roof in - set fire to the place as a parting gift Summer days, summer nights are gone Summer days, summer nights are gone I know a place where there's still somethin' going on When I first ever saw Larry I thought he was hot too. Not as much now, but yeah he's good looking. I also prefer John Jackson to him in the looks. It's his guitar playing and that damn smile. That's awesome about your dad. Any Dylan fan is a-okay in my book. *lol* BTW, I can probably have the boot somewhere between a week and three weeks. I'm just going to have to pm you. I already need to because of the vcd.

YOU ROCK. I have no idea how I'm going to repay you. I'll think of something, though ...
Dylan is such a brilliant writer...Love this verse: Politician got on his jogging shoes He must be running for office, got no time to lose He been suckin' the blood out of the genius of generosity You been rolling your eyes - you been teasing me

Ah, no problem. Just helping out my fellow music fan. Sent you a bunch of pm's. Didn't know only so many characters were allowed. LOL
That's a great verse! Definitely one of my faves.
