australian government receives terrorist threat!

i guess these sorts of warnings are common (at least in the u.s and britian) but this is a little scary i must admit. i am a little sceptical because the government has been trying to get anti-terror legislation through the parliament and the states are not having a bar of it. should i be cynical and believe this threat is a way to get that through by scaring the public? hmmm maybe i'm just too cynical.

b/c they feel they've exhausted (or merely don't possess) the democratic means of making their grievance known, so they resort to violence in order to get their demands met by a particular political authority

I'd consider it a 50/50 possibility. Bullies(terrorists) will target anyone they consider a threat to their agenda.
I love Australia, wish I could visit/SURF!!

there have been a couple of very sad attacks in bali just north of australia but i had always considered australia "safe". it always seemed to be somewhere else but perhaps its a matter of when and not if......
