I need a music programme to download ...
But I don't know which one to get What do you guys recommend?
I want a reliable, fast-loading programme where I can download songs to my computer for FREE, the download has to be free, and I want a programme which will let me put songs onto an audio CD. Could you please tell me which one to get, and where I can get it from, thanks heaps I really appreciate it.

DC++ is good, but I hear it's confusing and you have to share certain amounts of files. Personally I use WinMX. It has pretty much any song I want(keep in mind I use it to sample artists, meaning if I like the songs I buy the CD legally) and you don't have to share files.(if you share, you're eventually going to get caught and sued) As for burning CDs, if you have Windows Media Player 10, you can burn CDs using that. What you do is put the songs on a WMP playlist, then go over to burn, open the playlist, then burn the CD. You can also buy CD burning software as well.

I also forgot to say, if you download any file sharing program, make sure you have a good Anti Virus program just in case you get a virus while on there. Norton is a good AV program but if you don't want to buy that, download AVG 6. It's free and works good. Also, I highly recommend you get some good anti-spyware programs as well. SpyBot S&D and Ad-Aware are two excellent spyware removal programs. SpywareBlaster is a great program to prevent spyware and SpywareGuard prevents spyware from even installing. So I'd grab all these programs and use those to stay protected from all the viruses, spyware and other nasty things on the 'net.

and Ares, you can also unshare songs right after you download 'em. and i've actually had better luck finding and downloading songs on there as compared to KaZaA. also, it's not a program but a website, but http://www.singingfish.com/cgi-bin/f...uery=&adv=true is good, it basically searches the net for files, though you do have to sift through a bunch of files often times

Dude! That one is awesome! I just downloaded it, tried it out, and deleted my Kazaa.
Oh, and Hayley, if someone tells you to try mIRC, tell them to go f*** themselves. mIRC is crap. H-D

Thanks everyone. You all seem to think that Ares works really well, so I'm downloading it right now. Thanks for the heads up.
Okay, I'll do that lol

If you've got a firewall(and even if you don't) configure it to a secondary connection. Solved the problem for me.

DC++ is a great program but the problem behind it is that you need to manually find HUBs to connect to and then leach. Not to mention several HUBs have a huge sharing limit. I recommend it, but not as your primary program. What I strongly suggest is that you get Shareaza. Shareaza is an open source project that links various other p2p networks together. All of the other networks listed above by others, Shareaza lets you download from them. So rather than having more than one program, you can get the one program that allows you to download from all. Not to mention it has support for bittorrent.

I second that. Shareza is what I use, and I love it.
