The fun thing about playing the guitar.....

You get to learn songs right away, well it was that way for me my first lesson I learned 3 songs, Louie Louie, Bad to the Bone, and another that I don't remember. And the teacher is going to teach me to play what I want to play (Creed) and any other songs I want so you have to like the guitar, not that it's easy, it hurts like hell but it's still better to learn than the drums for me at least

I Think the best thing about guitars is that once you learn how to play other peoples music... then you can start making your own. When i 1st started playing all i did was play other peoples stuff... a few years into it i started making my own music as well... now 5 years down the road... it seems like i never learn other peoples stuff because i'm always making up my own songs. Oh and the fun really starts when you start to learn how to play LEAD guitar!!!! It takes alot of hard work and ussually a good guitar teacher... but once you get your scales and phrasing down... WOW!! SO FUN!!! lol

I found it the other way around.

When I started playing guitar, I couldnt play shit, It was like 2 weeks just to learn jungle bells.

Of course now Im slightly better, but still.

i was just practicing stairway to heaven of led zepplin.............. i tried it couple of weeks back and it felt like hell................... but know i got thorugh to most of the riffs..............havent touched the solo yet.....................damn............

Playing for me is the single greatest relief there is. No matter how my day goes, I can pick up my guitar and just rip scales and trills and instantly feel better about being me. When I first started 3 years ago it took me a week to learn Every Rose has its Thorn. Wylde, that was great, man.

I may be the odd guitarist out of the bunch...I play the classical or spanish guitar...which is more difficult to learn some of the songs for it than some of the stuff I play on my electric but I really do not play the electric...finger picking is the best way to play guitar too...

I rarely play electric either, acoustic tone is so much better. Fingerpicking is really hard at first, but once you get the hang of it, it's second nature.
Spanish guitar is difficult to play, I commend you.

Any particularly major influences? I love guys like James Hetfield, Esteban, SRV, Satriani, & Brian May.
