Re: Jeremiah

Okay, good morning to everyone. Picking up on Jeremiah 9:16 and the thought that God will send a sword after these people He's scattered, does that mean all the people? No! Again we have to look at context and who He's angry at. Who He is angry at is those who as it says in verses 13 and 14 have forsaken His law and obeyed not His voice but decided to dream up their own religion and even perhaps their own god(s). In as much as the House of Israel and the House of Judah will be joined backed together in the Millenium and in the eternity, obviously this is not directed toward all these people. Now, does that sound tough on those it is directed at? Yes it does. But you must understand that God does not like it when people allow themselves to becomed tied up in tradition and deception and falsehoods and think that it will save them when the Saviour has His outstretching arms to them and all they have to do is obey His voice and they will be blessed. He especially doesn't like it when teachers, professed teachers, lead people into falsehood. But it's interesting this word sword even.

2719.
brx chereb, kheh'-reb; from 02717; drought; also a cutting instrument (from its destructive effect), as a knife, sword, or other sharp implement:--axe, dagger, knife, mattock, sword, tool.

That word drought stands out, but the word comes from another Hebrew word. Let's take a look at that one.

2717.
brx charab, khaw-rab'; or chareb {khaw-rabe'}; a primitive root; to parch (through drought) i.e. (by analogy,) to desolate, destroy, kill:-- decay, (be) desolate, destroy(-er), (be) dry (up), slay, × surely, (lay, lie, make) waste.

Who is the desolator and destroyer? Naturally, as we should have already talked about going back to Daniel 8 and most specifically Daniel 11:31 it is the Antichrist, i.e. Satan. So, if these people want falsehood they will get as much and more than they can handle through Satan's lies. That's the sword God will use to consume them. But even with that he can only do as much as God will allow. Now, let's try to finish up this chapter.

Jeremiah 9:17 "Thus saith the LORD of hosts, Consider ye, and call for the mourning women, that they may come; and send for cunning women, that they may come:"

At the time of this writing they actually had women who this was kind of their business. They were "professional mourners". The word cunning does not necessarily mean anything negative. It actually can mean wise and even teaching wisdom, but it basically means women who are skilled at this craft of professional mourning. Why? It's going to be bad for these people. These are Jeremiah's people. These are our people. So it's going to be a time of mourning for some or over some to be sure.

Jeremiah 9:18 "And let them make haste, and take up a wailing for us, that our eyes may run down with tears, and our eyelids gush out with waters."

Why is this such a time of mourning? Go back to verse 16 and this "sword" that God is going to send after these people to consume them. It's not a physical death. It's actually much worse. Satan is going to come as Antichrist pretending to be Jesus, and these people are so wrapped up in traditions and their own imaginations instead of studying, learning, and teaching the Word of God so that they would know he's a fake, and so they're not only not going to know he's a fake, they're going to worship him! It will be a very sad time for these people.

Jeremiah 9:19 "For a voice of wailing is heard out of Zion, How are we spoiled! we are greatly confounded, because we have forsaken the land, because our dwellings have cast us out."

Zion of course being Jerusalem, but what is on Mount Zion? Mount Zion is the temple mount. This wailing is coming straight out of the churches. Why would there be a wailing and shame in the churches? What they taught lead people straight into Satan's camp when he comes as Antichrist. Again, it's very important that you study truth, learn truth, and teach it. Teach it from where? You teach from God's Word. If you truly do that, you're not going to be ashamed. But if you teach man's traditions you most certainly will be.

Jeremiah 9:20 "Yet hear the word of the LORD, O ye women, and let your ear receive the word of His mouth, and teach your daughters wailing, and every one her neighbour lamentation."

When God calls something to our attention or to someone's attention. This is actually kind of directed to these "cunning women". Let me ask, do you hear the Word? More importantly, do you let your ear receive it? Do you meditate over it? If you do, then you are a wise person, because you revere our Father. (Proverbs 1:7). At the same time, you do mourn for those who are deceived. You want to pull them out of the fire, figuratively speaking, and maybe almost literally speaking. Because guess what... chances are if someone makes the effort to go to church on a regular basis, they really do want to learn and really do love God.

Jeremiah 9:21 "For death is come up into our windows, and is entered into our palaces, to cut off the children from without, and the young men from the streets."

Death again is one of Satan's names and roles. His message, his lies, when received, will indeed cut off children, young men, and everyone off from eternal life. So, how do you cut him off? Again you study God's Word, you obey His voice, and you exercise the power that God gave you over him and all his little followers.

Luke 10:18 And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven.
Luke 10:19 Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.
Luke 10:20 Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven.

Now the way many are going to really sting him will be when they are delivered up to actually testify against him and they allow the Holy Spirit to speak through them. At that time they are going to shake him to his core, because what God says through them not even the gainsayers will be able to rebut (Luke 21:15). What a time that will be. Okay, I'll complete the chapter in the next post.
