Re: Creed and Alice In Chains
I have to agree with this entirely. Being a lead singer of a band that covers both creed and AIC, i have to say that singing one is a completely different story from singing the other. Now, when im singing Pearl Jam or STP, sometimes i catch myself reverting to my Creed sound basically because they are somewhat similar.
Stapp has a grunge voice much like vedder and weiland, but there are still a lot of differences.
Vedder for instance has a constant wavering sound in his voice, he does a vibrato that stapp doesnt do, and he also does a lot of Falsettos, or false high notes.
Weiland does more nasal/gutteral sounds with his voice than stapp and vedder.
Layne Staley on the other hand, is very high and nasal throughout most of his singing, and when he goes low, its a shallow low that comes from the chest, and not the gut.
Don't know how good of a comparison that is, but its a basic projection on how i feel when i sing the songs.
