But to answer your question ...

I would bet on Stapp (as long as he pulls himself together if need be). While Mark is a great guitarist, Stapp has that recognizable voice that people love. It was his voice, lyrics and charisma that pulled me in.

However, I agree that a lot of people don't like him. (Of course, I believe they just misunderstand him.) I think less people have already formed an opinion of Mark because he is not the face to the band. Lead singers usually do get more attention.

Let's just hope we don't have to find out who's better because they'll stay together.[/b][/quote]
I have female friends that aren't even Creed fans (actually they listen to hip-hop and dance music) but you mention Creed and the first thing out of their mouth is how much they like the singer's voice. So I don't agree that Stapps only supporters will be existing Creed fans. If Tremonti just simply takes the songs he wrote for Creed, and brings in another singer....I doubt I will be interested...cause it will just be Creed without a recognizable voice.....THE voice. If he takes it and goes in the direction of what he says are his influences, and it ends up a heavy metal band....that isn't what I'm interested in either. Won't pass judgement until I actually hear it, but I'm just not that optimistic that it will be something I will be interested in. Where Stapp is concerned....he has the voice...and people recognize it. Sure I'm interested in hearing what either of them decide to do....but figure I will be more likely to want to hear the voice.

But I do agree that I would prefer that this whole experiment in solo efforts plays itself out and in a couple of years things return to what we know as Creed.
