Here in Australia, it's 17. I think it's a sensible age for consent. I don't see it being put above 17, but I also don't think that lowering it is going to do anything. 13 and 14 year olds will have sex if they want, whether it's legal or not.

I suppose an argument in support of lowering the age of consent would be that if it was lowered to, say, 14 or 15, then education about safe sex, etc, would be made available to kids that age. Then, it's possible that, even though there would probably still be the same number of kids doing it, there would be less pregnancies and diseases resulting from that sex.
