They pretty much have said over and over and over and over again that they are NOT a Christian band, but guys who believe in God. Scott Stapp, who wrote a lot of the lyrics, was brought up in a very religious home, so he tends to use a lot of religious/biblical imagery in his lyrics. There isn't anything evangelical about them.
