Wow, that's pretty cool, nice idea!
But I think the soldier/war scene would confuse people and play on the meaning of the song. To me Broken Wings is about re-finding something that you have lost, and it is so close but you can't reach it. I know it is personal interpretation, and that sounds like a cool video idea, but maybe not for me.
I like your lighting ideas though.
