Yep, and in this eye they were heretics. Luther (and this is a historical fact) was an overly scrupulous headcase, who came up with his "Faith Alone" doctrine because he couldn't handle how guilty he always became for sinning--so he invented an ideology where sinning doesn't matter.

And they are not part of "The Church". They are churches, but not the Church.
